Flashback

"Derek, will you finally listen to me?" Meredith yelled as she tried to stop him in his office

"Meredith, I don't have time for this. I explained it was a mistake, I didn't mean to. She kissed me and I just- I should have stopped her" Derek tried to walk out of his office

"Derek- Just stop please" Meredith whimpered

"What's wrong?" He looked at his wife, knowing she doesn't cry that easily

"Derek, I'm pregnant. And if you don't wanna be in for this, then that's okay, I get it. But I really want this baby so- Yeah" Meredith breathed

"You- You're pregnant?" Derek gasped

"Second trimester. 13 weeks" Meredith whispered

"Oh-" He looked sad as he realised he had never seen the changes his wife's body went through

"I have an ultrasound. I don't know if you wanna join or not but I have to go now" Meredith said and turned around but was happy when Derek chased her

"I'm in for this" Derek nodded

"Then let one thing be clear: I want our child to have the best childhood she could wish for so I'm not doing this fighting. I don't wanna try to desperately save this marriage, I wanna be here for my daughter at all times" Meredith said sternly "So if that means we're over, then we're over" She kept walking to the OB despite some pain in her left leg which was probably because of how exhausted she was

End of flashback

"Code blue! I need some help!" A nurse yelled

Meredith quickly hurried her way towards the room as no other doctor seemed to be around. She quickly let go of Poppy's leash and the dog knew what to do, stay as close to Meredith but not sit in the way so that was what the dog did

"Doctor Grey, are you okay?" The nurse asked as she saw how Meredith was doing compressions

"I'm fine. Look for someone to take over, please" She ordered and kept pushing the patient's chest up and down, every compression hurted more but she couldn't stop. This was about a life, it wasn't just a small thing

"Dr Grey, we paged Dr Bailey, she should be on her way" Linda told Meredith

"O-Okay" Meredith nodded, sweat was appearing on her forehead as she was doing everything she could

The feeling in her fingers was slowly disappearing and it just felt like they were on fire

"Dr Grey, let me take over!" Helm ran up to her and took over, Meredith stumbled back and then felt hands around her waist

"Mer, come with me" Alex held her in his arms

"P-Pops" She heavily breathed

"Poppy's coming with us" Alex assured her and walked her out of the room "Someone get me a wheelchair!" He ordered

"Here you go, Dr Karev" A nurse came running towards him with a wheelchair

Alex helped Meredith into the wheelchair and wheeled her towards an on-call room and helped her lay down

"I have work-" She started protesting but even Poppy started helping Meredith to lay down by pushing her nose against her leg

"No way. You're gonna take a nap and then I'm bringing you home. You overdid yourself!" Alex shook his head and covered her with a blanket

"Ellis" Meredith muttered "I have to take Ellis home"

"I'll page Shepherd" Alex nodded "Nap, I'll be back in an hour" Alex tucked her in and left the room

...

"Come on, Mer" Alex helped her on her feet "Shepherd got Ellis from daycare, they're waiting in his office"

"Slow" She quietly said as she grabbed Poppy's leash in her hand and walked out of the room towards Derek's office

Alex knocked on Derek's door and let Meredith enter

"Mommy!" Ellis smiled and went to hug her mother

"Hi baby! How was daycare?" Meredith asked with a smile

"Boring! I wanna go home!" Ellis looked at her mother

"Did you bring her backpack?" Meredith asked Derek

"Yeah, Ellie, can you grab your backpack?" Derek asked the little girl

"But daddy, it's heavy!" Ellis whined

"Because you wanted to take a hundred things to your mom's house" He chuckled "I can carry it to your car" He spoke up

"Alex' standing outside, he's gonna drive us home before he has his next surgery" Meredith quietly said, she knew he's gonna ask more

"Are you doing okay today? I can bring you home and help out with Ellie if you want?" He suggested, his eyes going soft immediately

"We'll be fine" Meredith nodded her head

"Mer, I can cook for you and then I can leave again, it's no big deal" Derek suggested "I just wanna help you out"

"Mommy, can daddy come?" Ellis looked at Meredith with big eyes

"Okay then" Meredith gave in as she couldn't say no to her daughter. She knew Derek tried to help even if she hated accepting it

Flashback

"Derek, stop! I can take care of my daughter, I'm capable of doing that!" She yelled

"I know that Meredith! But you're in pain!" Derek yelled and wanted to grab her hand in his

"Stop!" Meredith pulled away and winced, Poppy made Derek back up

"I'm sorry" Derek's eyes went soft

"Derek, I can't deal with you hoovering. I can take care of Ellis, I don't need help" Meredith said sternly

"Mer, you even have an assistant dog! Why not accept my help?" He asked as he felt hurt

"Because you're my ex-husband. You decided to throw our marriage away, not me" She replied "And now stop yelling or you have to leave my house" She repeated

"Can you please call me if something is up?"

"I will call you if something is up with Ellis" Meredith nodded

"Mer- Please call me as well if you need me"

"Derek, Alex even came to live with me because apparently you all think I'm not capable of living on my own. I don't need to call you. Now can I go? I wanna cuddle with my 20 month old baby" Meredith sighed

"Of course. I'm sorry" Derek said and walked out if the house

"Yeah.. Me too" Meredith muttered once she closed the door
