A Not so Wicked Paradise

CHP 5: Thomas

I woke up feeling spectacular. Teresa and I had finally set things straight. We were going to be together. With a big smile on my face, I jumped out of bed and looked around. Minho, Newt and Frypan were gone.

That's odd.

Usually, Minho and Frypan get up early, but Newt and I always sleep in. Shaking it off, I got out of bed and changed into clean clothes. I walked out of my cabin and looked around. Immunes were milling about, tending to their business as usual. I decided to head over to the Mess Hall to grab a bite to eat.

Upon arriving I immediately spotted Frypan and Elizabeth chatting. No one else was in sight. I grabbed a platter of food from the cooks on duty and headed over to where they're sitting. I greet them as I plop down next to Frypan. In between bites of a turkey sandwich, I asked,

"Where is everyone?"

"I don't know," Frypan shrugged.

Probably working," Elizabeth added.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw Newt ordering around some people at the gardens."

The three of us finished our breakfast together. Elizabeth left to work as a Medjack and Frypan headed back to the kitchen. I decided to look for everyone else. First I walked over to the Gardens, hoping to find Newt and Teresa.

No such luck.

Then I went over to the Ranch, wanting to ask Sonya and Harriet where Newt and Teresa were. They were nowhere to be found.

I tried to find Minho at the council building, but I couldn't find him either. Confused, I decided to go to the Mess Hall, hoping that someone might be there. When I walked in, I spotted Teresa out of the corner of my eye. She was sitting down at a table, talking to Frypan. Relieved that I'd found someone, I made my way over to her. Greeting her with a peck on the cheek, I plop down next to Teresa.

"Where have you and everyone else been?"

She replied, "At our jobs, working. Unlike you." She smiled and playfully punched me.

"Hey, it's not my fault that Runners don't get to explore until everything is up and running! Minho said Runners will probably start to work next week."

"Whatever you say." She said, smiling.

We looked at each other for a while until Frypan started to complain.

"Ugh c'mon guys, get a room."

Laughing, we all talked for a while until Newt walked in and waved me over.

"Be right back." I say as I make my way over to Newt. Before I can say anything, he cuts me off.

"Tommy, I have to show you something."

With that, he turned on his heels and walked away.

Confused, I waved goodbye to Frypan and Teresa before taking off after Newt.

"Hey, Newt, wait up!" I shouted as I caught up to him.

"This can't wait. C'mon now. You're a runner aren't you?" He smirked as he took off, with me jogging next to him.
