Chapter 21

They were too late...

There was this sharp pain the girls felt in their hearts like a knife cutting right through it. To hear that they were too late to save their friends made them want to turn back time and have a do over.

They were blaming themselves for not seeing this earlier but even they know there was nothing they could have done. This couldn't have been prevented and they know that but they're just in denial.

The girls just stared at Dr. Kim with a blank expression not listening to a word he's saying. Their minds were too preoccupied in denying that Haseul and Jinsoul are gone and won't come back.

Even Gowon couldn't believe they were gone as she simply sat there frozen in shock. This was not supposed to happen. It wasn't even part of the heist prep at all and suddenly their crew winds up with two dead members.

What kind of bullshit heist prep is this?

"Girls?" They blinked in confusion and looked up at the doctor standing in front of them.

"Yea, dad?" Jiwoo questioned as her and the others didn't hear what he said before.

Dr. Kim lightly furrowed his eyebrows "Did you girls not hear what I said?" He asked seeing the confused expression on their faces.

The girls looked at each other and shook their heads realizing they never listened to the doctor after the first part "No sir, we didn't. Sorry" Olivia answered for them as they sheepishly smiled at him.

Staring at them, Dr. Kim can see how much they care for their two friends that were just fighting for their lives in the operating room. He knows that Jiwoo is in good hands with these girls and is glad she has friends she can call family.

A small chuckle escaped the doctor's lips "What I had said was, we managed to get them back both times and successfully stopped the internal bleeding in their abdomen" He finished with a confident smile.

Hearing the doctor say those words kicked the sad gray cloud that hung over their heads away and replaced it with a bright and happy sun filled with rainbows. Their hearts started beating again and their frowns turned upside down into beaming grins.

They were repeating that sentence in their minds making sure they heard the doctor correctly. Hope and slight relief could be seen all over their faces once they realized Dr. Kim is serious and are grateful for him and the others who helped save Haseul and Jinsoul's lives.

Heejin was also glad they're gonna be alright even if she doesn't know them but seeing a smile appear on Hyunjin's face is all she needs to feel at ease with them.

"Wait, wait, wait" Yves blurted out wanting to make sure of something "So you're saying they're gonna be okay?" She asked the doctor in all seriousness.

The smile on Dr. Kim's face never faltered "We stopped all the bleeding in Haseul's abdomen and also fixed up the gunshot and stab wound on her arm and shoulder. She'll be able to make a full recovery in no time" He said and saw how relieved they became.

Vivi exhaled the breath she didn't she was holding and relaxed hearing Haseul was gonna be alright. She was so happy she'll be able to see her precious girlfriend and do all those couple things with her.

Yeojin would've been jumping up and down if she was here.

"We also stopped the bleeding in Jinsoul's abdomen but..." Frowns immediately reappeared on the girls' faces and they instantly felt scared seeing the doctor's smile fall a bit.

Jungeun and Yves held their breath in fear "Two of her ribs were broken and one of them managed to puncture her lung causing her to have difficulty breathing" Dr. Kim told them and felt bad for wiping the smiles off their faces.
