-*America's POV*-

America stared at his alarm clock blankly. He had been woken up by it mere moments before, and after lots of protest, had finally gotten up. America squinted at the time, 9:40, and couldn't help but feel he was missing something important. He shrugged, the confusion evident in his eyes, and lowered his head onto the soft pillow, clearly giving up trying to figure it out. Moments after his head had hit the pillow, he jerked up in urgency, the look of confusion replaced with one of realization and shock.

It was Monday.

The day of the UN meeting.

America quickly scrambled out of bed before glancing at the clock once again. He sighed in relief. He hadn't missed it. It started at 10:00am.

Don't get him wrong, America hated UN meetings, but he knew that if he missed it, he would be in a lot of trouble. America slipped on his signature sunglasses and NATO shirt, and ate a small breakfast consisting of cereal with milk and a leftover pancake from yesterday's breakfast. By the time he was all ready to leave his house, it was 10:00.

America casually walked outside and hopped in his car, seemingly not at all in a rush, and then drove off. To be honest, America always arrived to UN meetings fashionably late. Most of the time, it was either because he slept in, or just to spite all of the other countries. But most of the time it was a mix of both.  "Huh, I wonder what they have on the radio today." he muttered as  he reached one hand toward the control panel and he fumbled with the buttons for a bit. He switched stations repeatedly until he finally found something he liked. The song "Sweet home Alabama" blasted through the speakers and America yelled "Hell, yeah!"

The rest of the drive was essentially the same thing, with numerous other songs played such as "Cotton eyed Joe" and "Take me Home, Country roads"

When America had finally arrived at 10:15, he didn't run to the entrance as many other, more sensible countries would. No, not America. Hell, he didn't even speed-walk. In an attempt to further delay his entry, he took each step painstakingly slowly, as if he was treading on ice. Any onlooking country would've thought he had a death wish, as UN took punctuality very seriously.  Now this was true; if any other country came even a minute late, UN would scold them and tell them to be more punctual next time. But UN had lowered his standards for America a long time ago.

When he finally made it to the doorway of the meeting room at 10:20, he was greeted with a smile from Canada and an angry glare from Russia, and a few scattered nods as per usual. He returned the smile to Canada, and then proceeded to flip off Russia.

UN saw this and just gave him a disappointed look. "Welcome, America, 20 minutes late as usual, hmm?" UN said.

America just took a seat at his designated spot next to Canada and Mexico. "Anyway," UN began, "We have a lot to discuss."

Anyway! That was the first chapter! How was it? This is my first time writing so I'm grateful for any feedback at all!

This chapter is a bit short (about 650 words), but I'll try to make future chapters longer!

Also, I am not going to beg you to vote at the end of every single chapter; that is up to you. If you enjoyed the chapter, then you can vote, by all means, but I'm not going to pressure anyone into it :)
