-*Russia's POV*-

>A month later<

"I love you."

Who knew those were the words Russia had needed to hear so badly for all his life?

Although he'd never admitted it to himself, all Russia had ever wanted was love and validation. He had always craved this sort of a connection with someone, but he was too scared of reaching out because of his childhood trauma.

The first time America had told him this was when he had initially confessed his feelings, which in itself made Russia melt.

Finally he had found the one who could help him heal through his love and care. Not only that, but they could help each other. They could see each other for who they actually are rather than just who they appeared to be.

What was that, if not love of the purest kind? The type that was driven not by selfishness nor lust, but by a desire to form a connection with the person who listens to you, cares for you, protects you, and considers you.

When given a chance to flourish, this connection can grow into the most passionate of loves.

In a way, then, UN had unknowingly brought them together. The wristbands were what made them both slowly warm up to each other, whether they had wanted it or not.

But all of that was irrelevant now. The moment Russia accepted his feelings for America was the moment he decided to leave his past behind. He would no longer allow it to determine who he was.

He looked back at America, who was sitting in anticipation at the dinner table and staring at what he was cooking. Just mere moments earlier he had been ranting about how unfair it was that he had so much work to do, though he paused the second Russia announced that the food was almost ready.
