"Please ?" I asked

"No."

"Pretty please ?" I asked again

"Hell no." My daddy replied again before walking away

"Why not ?" I asked before following him and he sighed annoyed

"It's for me and Janae's Birthday, it's not like it's gonna be a random party with the whole city." I added

"One, shit to do, and two I don't feel like dealing with no bad ass lil kids." He said Before I smacked my teeth

"Well what if we have it at my house ?" Janae asked

"Fuck no." He replied before I tilted my head

"Then I can't stalk and make sure the bad ass little kids not trying shit that they have no business trying." He said before me and Janae looked at each other

"What if I bring Mani?" I asked referring to big brother and he shrugged

"How about Mani, and Anthony." He said before I raised my eyebrows

"Anthony got too much clout, it's our birthday event and he's gonna take the attention." I said before he shrugged

"Take mani and Ant, and I'll leave after the first hour." He offered before I looked at Janae who shrugged

"He reached into his pocket before handing me some cash and I gave him a hug

"Thank you." I told him

"Thank me by paying attention to your surroundings, this generation of niggas are weird as hell so just stay focused." He told me

"Now Donnell you know that's the least of her worries, I already had to beg her to beg you." Janae said before I shook my head

Janae has been my best friend and sister since elementary school. She's basically considered family to my family and I'm considered as family to hers. You never usually see the two of us apart in public, but that's only because I don't like to get out too much. I'm more of a homebody, but every once in a while I like to come out of my shell and live a little.

After a while Mani came downstairs with his car keys in hand and his eyes glued to his phone

"Where you going?" I asked and he looked up

"To run some errands." He sarcastically said as if we didn't have school

"You have to come to our party Friday, daddy wanted you and Anthony around for some reason." I said before he shrugged

"Coo." He said with his eyes still glued to his phone and I furrowed my eyebrows

"Coo ? I don't have to beg you to go and get cussed out for dragging you in?" I chuckled before he smacked his teeth

"I'm not doing shit anyways Saige, I'm not trippin just check with Ant." He said before grabbing his bag and me and Nae did the same.

"Bye." I told my daddy before he kissed my head and replied the same to all of us before we all got in Mani's car and headed to school

Mani is my big brother, however he isn't the oldest. There's me who's 16, Mani who's 18, and Anthony who's 21. Anthony plays college ball here in Houston, however we're not from here. Me and Mani are both seniors, I skipped a grade during a school transition which will of course lead me to graduating early at 17. Me and Nae share the same birthday, but Nae's turning 18 and I'll be 17.

We were born and grew up in Brooklyn New York, but left for Charlotte once I hit the 5th grade. At some point we were moving back and forth before we finally settle down here.
