Silvia watched as Egon used a jackhammer to create a hole near where the PKE and gigameter detected something. As cars passed by, a cop car honked its horn at Egon, who turned off the jackhammer and set it down on the ground.
"Hey! How are you doing?" The cop asked them.
"Me?" Egon asked, looking around.
"Yeah." The cop answered.
"Fine, fine. It's cutting fine now." Silvia answered for Egon.
"Great, why are you cutting?" The cop asked. Egons eyes widened but thankfully saw Ray and Peter in sight with coffees in their hands.
"Boss!" Egon shouted to them, waving them over. Ray and Peter ran over immediately.
"Who told you to stop cutting? Somebody tells you to stop?" Peter said in his toughest voice. "Did you tell him to stop cutting?"
"Yes, I told him to stop. What are you doing?" The cop asked Peter.
"What does it look like we're doing here? Why don't you let us work? We let you work." Peter shouted.
"Hey, take it easy. He's been working overtime. I'll tell you why we're here. We're here because some diaper bag downtown is being a jerk and making us work on a Friday night. Am I right Peter?" Ray lied.
"Of course, you're right, Raymond. Is he right, Ziggy?" Peter turned to Egon.
"Yo," Egon said, putting his fist into the air.
"You guys take it easy, all right?" The cop said as he started to drive away, Silvia gave him a thumbs up.
"What have you been doing?" Ray asked Egon.
"What have I been doing? While you were getting coffee for an hour, I've been digging a big hole in the middle of the street." Egon protested, obviously irritated.
"Looks like you uncovered an old air shaft," Ray said. "Man, that just goes on and on."
"This is very intense. We should get a deeper reading." Egon said as he used the gigameter.
"Yeah, we're gonna need a deeper reading," Ray said.
"Yeah, somebody has to go down there," Egon said.
"Yeah, somebody's gotta go down there," Ray repeated as Egon, Peter, and Silvia all looked at Ray.
"Hey, you take forever to get coffee, we put you in a hole in the middle of the street. Seems fair to me." Silvia said as she sipped her hot coffee.

The three of them helped Ray as he was being hoisted down into the ground to see what was going on.
"Slime!!" They heard Ray shout.
"What?!!" Egon said.
"It's a river of slime!" Ray shouted again. "There's gotta be twenty-five thousand gallons of it. It's flowing through here like a river."
Meanwhile, back up on the streets, the cops came and pulled over next to them.
"Hey, what, you boneheads are gonna come and roust me out again? I got three thousand phones out in Greenwich Village. I got about eight million miles of cable I gotta check. You gonna come and shake my monkey tree again??" Peter shouted at them.
"What are you talking about buddy? The phone lines are over there!" A man from the actual cable company said, pointing to the other side of the street. Peter looked back at Egon and Silvia, who were wide-eyed but didn't say anything.
"What did I say to you? The phone lines are over there! What did I say? How many times??" Peter shouted at Egon while Peter hit him on his hard hat.
"Hey! You're not with Con Ed or the phone company. We checked. So tell me another one." The cop said.
"I got a major gas leak here! Where do you think all of this is coming from?? The sky?!" Peter lied and shouted again.
"Help! Take me up!!" Ray shouted from below. Ray must've kicked something on his way up, because he hit some wires and suddenly all of New York had no power, everything was pitch black.
"Oh shit," Silvia said. As Ray was brought back up, Silvia and Egon sat on the sidewalk together as Ray and Peter got asked a bunch of questions. "At least we can see the stars now without mistaking them for lights." Egon nodded in agreement as they held hands and looked at the stars together. Even though the power was out, it was still noisy as hell.
"Ready to be arrested again?" Egon asked her.
"As I'll ever be." Silvia smiled.

"Before we begin this trial, I want to make one thing very clear. The law does not recognize the existence of ghosts and I don't believe in them either. I don't wanna hear a lot of malarkey about goblins, spooks, and demons. We're gonna stick to the facts in this case and leave ghost stories to the kiddies, understood?" The judge said.
"Wow, sounds like a pretty open-minded guy, huh?" Winston said. He had been dragged into this even though he had done nothing wrong.
"Yeah, they call him "The Hammer," Egon said.
"How cheerful," Silvia said.
"What can we do? It's all in the hands of our lawyer now." Ray said.
"I think you guys are making a big mistake. I do mostly tax law and some probate stuff occasionally. I got my law degree at night school." Louis said as he set some books down on the table where they all sat.
"Well, that's fine, Louis. We got arrested at night." Ray said, hitting his head on the table afterward.
"All right all right, let's get on with it." The judge said as he banged his gavel twice.

"Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the audience, I don't think it's fair to call my clients frauds. Okay, so the blackout was a big problem for everyone, okay? I was stuck in an elevator for two hours and I had to make the whole time, but I don't blame them. Because one time I turned into a dog and they helped me. Thank you." Louis said, sitting back down in his seat next to the four of them. Winston was separated from them by his lawyer.
"Very good, Louis. Short but..pointless." Egon said.

"Mr. Fianella, please look at exhibits A through F on the table over here. Do you recognize this equipment?" The prosecutor asked the guy from Con Ed, the actual cable and phone line company.
"Yeah, that's the stuff the cops took from their truck." He answered.
"Do you know what this equipment is used for?" The prosecutor asked.
"I don't know. Catching ghosts maybe?" He answered again.
"May I remind the court the defendants are under a judicial restraining order that strictly forbids them from performing services as paranormal investigators or eliminators?" The prosecutor said.
"This biatch is getting on my last nerve," Silvia whispered.
"We'll be okay," Egon whispered back, taking her hand into his and holding it out of comfort. I just want to go home...
