Y/N's POV

I sat at my desk watching Parasite on Jungkook's laptop, which sat on the glass topped table wandering where it's owner was. I was thinking the same when I felt a familiar touch on my head as Jungkook ruffled my hair. He had strictly forbidden me from going outside the room till I recovered completely, and so he always managed some time out amidst his work to give me company.

"Yah! Stop messing with my hair, will you?", I said pausing the movie.

" There's a good news Y/N! ", he said settling down in the chair beside me, his eyes glittering with anticipation and glory.

" What's it? ", I asked eagerly.

He however, turned a bit grim and serious before explaining the situation to me.

" As I was telling you, there's this NIS agent, an old rival of mine, who tried to kill you by faking up an accident? So, he's caught, well and alive, and will be receiving his due punishment. I want you to meet him once, so that I may know what his reaction is, after he realizes that his plan has failed."

"You want me to meet him now? "

"Yes. We will delay no more.", he said and tugged at my arm.

" Wait a minute! I can't possibly go to a police station without changing my clothes-"

He cut me off with a wave of his hand and motioned me to keep quiet. I followed, not being sure of his strange behavior.

Within a few minutes however, I realized that we, rather Jungkook, had no intention of leaving the house whatsoever. Jungkook doesn't allow me to leave my room often, and the only place where I've been in this large house is to the open balcony which faces the Lake Gobokjayeon.

Jungkook never told me before, that he had bought a summer villa here. The villa was beautiful, most of its windows overlooked the rippling blue waters of the lake while the others provided a picturesque view of the calm, rural countryside.

"I'll take you on a boating trip once you recover", Jungkook had promised me one afternoon, as we sat at the balcony mesmerized by the different hues of colors which the setting sun reflected on the vast expanse of rippling serenity.

Today however, he led me past the same balcony without even sparing a glance at the glittering waters of the lake outside. We halted in front of a narrow, dusty staircase leading down to the basement below.

Unwillingly, I followed Jungkook down the flight of stairs which creaked dangerously with each step laid onto it. We descended onto a dark, deserted basement at one corner of which a man lay all tied up and gagged. I turned at Jungkook in disbelief.

He held the agent captive in his own basement?

TAEHYUNG'S POV

I opened my eyes slowly, as two pairs of footsteps approached me. I have no idea how many days I've been lying here, without food and water, in the company of the many rats which count days till they get to feed of my flesh. I have a faint recollection of the time when I became unconscious from hunger, and a man splashing some water on my face and allowing me to drink some of it too. That was the last time I drank.

I groaned as the wires bounding my wrists cut through my flesh owing to my attempts at sitting up straight. I blinked a number of times to figure out who the approaching silhouettes were.

And when I did, my heart skipped a beat.

The human brain, is a strange creation. It always tries to grab hope in times of trouble, not realizing that these rays of hope may be deceiving to a great extent.

When I first realized that the approaching figure was Y/N, my joy held no bounds. Finally they found me.

The next moment, all my hopes lay shattered onto the ground like a broken piece of glass when the realization struck me. Y/N was with Jungkook.

The rascal had a sly smile plastered on his face, and now when he noticed my glare, swiftly he wound his arms onto Y/N's. Surprisingly, she didn't even spare a glance at him. Her eyes we're fixed onto mine's, a look of hatred sparking in them. There wasn't even a single ray of love and affection in them as there was even a few days ago.

What changed her so?

There was no way I could know the answer. My unanswered questions echoed through the damp dark walls of the basement, making the air heavy with their gravity. I tried to picture Y/N as a member of The Black Eagles, putting up a smart act all through these long years, just to kill me and insert their men amongst the NIS to eventually control the organization. But the idea seemed absurd as I met her before the Black Eagles were arrested.

Could she be Jungkook's girlfriend-

Not allowing my mind to wander further, Jungkook said, "Come Y/N, there's no need of standing and staring at this murder's face. He'll be receiving his due punishment for trying to harm you".

She let herself to be taken away by him, giving me a long, disgusted look, something which pierced through my heart deeper than the wires bound around my wrist which cut sharply through the flesh.

I knew I was in great danger and that my end was near, but I knew better that I wasn't going to die while seeing Y/N with that scoundrel, nor while knowing that his spy was trying to make their way to be the NIS's most trusted employees.
