"When B met Kesi I knew it was over. She was the only girl that would tell him about himself in high school and she's still the only girl now. I remember all those talks we'd have with me encouraging him to finally tell her the truth, he'd always stall because of one aspect, one part of them he didn't want to lose. He'd look at me and it was during those times and only those times that I saw fear in his eyes. We're from Kinston so imagine , the one thing you're afraid of has to do with a girl not gangs , or Larry Johnson who beats up anyone who dare wink at his sister, because even I didn't do that and she sure was fine but anyway..."
Deuce laughed before he resumed his toast while Brandon buried his face in his wife's hair. The one part about having your friends toast at your wedding was that you never could predict what would come out of their mouth and with deuce that was a lot.
"The one thing B feared the most was losing his friendship with Kesi or to be more honest just losing her in general. When she moved away I got to see how that fear affected him , he wasn't himself for a long time and he threw himself into basketball harder than ever to try to cope. It's funny how you always brought him closer to things he loved through his love for you. I prayed that you two would find your way back to eachother because no matter how many other shorties he met or how many I introduced him to he never loved them like how he loved you. God answered my prayers and B I just want to say congratulations bro , you got everything you ever dreamed of. You know it's always family over everything with us so welcome to the family Kesi , officially that is."
Brandon got up and hugged his friend with a smile on his face before he settled back down next to Kesi.
"We made it through and we're still in one piece."
Resting her hand on top of his , Kesi took in the sight of her husband before she kissed the side of his face.
"It wasn't that bad , I only cried three times so I think we're good."
"Don't stop your count we still have to have our dance , good thing I opted not to have it right after or before you danced with your dad because you two were a mess."
Kesi playfully pushed him away while he chuckled. It was intense though , swaying to Luther's Dance With My Father was more emotional than she had anticipated but she had managed to hold her own until her dad actually began to cry. After the music ended it took the twins to separate them and dancing with Kwesi also proved emotional for Kesi , her usually energetic and independent brother clung to her as if he knew things would change.
"You'll still come home right , KesKes?"
He'd asked her with sad eyes and she held him close and kissed his forehead before she promised that she'd always be there for him and he'd see her any chance she got.
Marriages were always beautiful to her and now that she had her own she cherished them even more. Glancing across the room she delighted in the smiling faces of her father and Amelia , Kasim was also smiling brightly next to his girlfriend Belle and the twins were indulging in the food on their plates. Mr and Mrs Ingram were chatting about something with broad smiles on their faces and she felt the love spreading throughout the room between everyone there.
