"So how long have you two not talked?" Kam queried as she circled her kitchen trying to locate where Kaidence had thrown her bottle while she sat in her mother, Kesi's lap. The seven month old had decided to be in a mood this morning.
"It's been years Kam. We just kind of distanced and honestly I don't even know where to start with her."
It wasn't easy for Kesi to put what had happened into words. She'd tried to advise Aziah soundly only for Aziah to lash out at her. Things were said , decisions were made and as a result they had drifted.
Kesi hated it but she was starting to place more hope in Brandon's perspective, she hoped that they could rise above this. When Kesi had moved to Tennessee after finding family for the first time in Kinston with her father and Brandon , Aziah had mended her broken heart. They'd sit up for hours and talk about anything. She got Aziah through her teenage acne and Aziah dragged her through her mandatory acting class.
Kesi wasn't an artist just like Aziah wasn't a scientist but they bonded over the loyalty and care they had for one another. When she'd tried to move on with Wayde , Aziah encouraged her and ultimately ate ice cream with her when it ended. When Aziah had gone through that abuse with Derryck , Kesi was one of her pillars. They had history.
Shaking her head Kam waved Kesi off as she turned on her TV to stop Kaidence's newfound fussing. Like a charm the little girl got sucked into the new episode of Bleacher Report.
"Well you two were best friends Kes, I highly doubt it's going to be that bad you know. Besides Nadia is close to her and said she wants you two to be as close as you were again. Sounds like all the bad blood is gone."
"Yeah I guess." Kesi sighed before she readjusted Kai who'd begun to babble in baby talk.
"What you gummin' about now four teeth?"
Kai smiled up at her godmother whose accent had popped out momentarily before she pointed up at the screen.
"da da , da da"
Attracting the ladies' attention to the TV, Kai beamed at an image of Brandon and Josh at an afterparty came into view.
"Now the dynamic duo on the court may have to add a third member off the court as Josh Hart was seen being very close with A'ja Wilson after his game last night. Kam , I'm not saying anything but.."
The TV shut off as Kam sucked her teeth at the reporter, none other than fellow wag Aja Stewart, the fiancée of Jordan Bell who had a knack for stirring the pot then hiding her hands. Kam didn't get involved much with other WAGS which was why what she'd built with her fellow Laker wives and girlfriends as well as River and Tolerie was so special. Still of all the ladies she , Kesi ,Nadia and River were the closest. There wasn't much that went on in their lives that the others didn't know about.
In this game it was important to be careful with who you trusted. Kesi and Kam both knew that Aja Stewart was someone that should be handled carefully.
"Dis skunt." Kam fumed , her accent coming out full force "always spreadin' di wrong rasshole news."
"It's her job Kam , she probably didn't even want to say it."
Rolling her eyes Kam grabbed her bag off the counter and waved her friend off.
"Whatever , it jus plain mess anyway."
"Kam , is everything alright? You're fuming like I could barely understand what you said just now. Your accent only comes out like this when you're excited or pissed so what's good?"
After a year and some change of friendship , Kesi and Kam had grown the closest , so close that they often times acted like they'd known each other for ages. As such , Kesi could see in the way Kam's face was set that something was bothering her. She knew it could be a variety of things , so she needed Kam to pinpoint what it was precisely.
