"C'mon Kesi , one on one , me and you. If I get ten points first you gotta tell me everything about you and the kid , if you get it , you don't owe me shit."
"You know you're gonna win Kasim , just ask me whatever you want to. I can't promise I'll answer everything though."
Kasim dribbled the ball around his sister's standing form and smirked. She never did like playing games , did she? Maybe that's why their relationship became somewhat distant. He loved his baby sis and he knew she loved him too but seeing how close she was to Cartier as opposed to him made him jealous sometimes.
It wasn't his fault he couldn't be there.
Brandon told Kasim he'd known his sister for a while , they were best friends in Kinston , he said Kesi mentioned having a brother once or twice but he wouldn't have known it was Kasim had Kasim not made it clear to everyone that Diana Bledsoe was his sister and off limits. When he started suspecting she was Kesi and eventually found out she truly was her, it all came together.
She never talked about him and that hurt Kasim more than the fact that his sister never told him about Brandon. It was almost as if she'd erased him until he was right in her face. Yes, he was a tough basketball star but he still had a heart damnit and his sister would always hold a place in it as well as his mom.
He just wished that they would all get along.
"How serious is it?"
That was really his only question , after cornering Brandon , his teammate was more than happy to clear things up and to make it clear that Kasim didn't scare him. He had to respect that.
"We're just friends."
Kesi declared causing Kasim to roll his eyes and shake his head.
"Just friends huh? He been chilling in your room a lot, ya'll been having lunch together outside and you brought him food at practice yesterday Kesi. Plus let's ignore the fact that a whole month has passed since this started and we're just now talking about it."
Kesi kicked the ball from his grip and Kasim's head snapped up to hers. Kesi knew this was about more than her friendship with Brandon. She could see it in his eyes.
"What's really bothering you Kasim?"
"I dunno sis , maybe the fact that I've been begging you to do things with me and support me since we got here and you still haven't but when Brandon comes along you suddenly can do everything with him , you have time for him and conveniently you don't have to study."
"Sim , I support you , I only went to basketball games for you , I would wait outside every time just to see you and don't say I don't try because you've put me on the end list of your priorities just to get some ass many times."
Kasim held his heart and nodded , he might have chosen a woman over Kesi once or twice but since this thing had started she'd chosen Brandon over him many times.
"Kesi , since you got with him , this is the first time we've actually conversed , it's been a month Kesi."
"Well I think that's an improvement , it used to be years."
Kesi snapped at him and the hurt that flashed through her brother's eyes immediately made her regret it. She sat flat on the court and put her face in her hands.
"I'm sorry Kasim but you have to understand. I don't mean to choose him over you but I just , we have so much history and we haven't seen each other for so long. I missed him and I don't know how long this will last."
