"Sorry?"
Alec took a step back, blinking rapidly to process what he had witnessed. The man that stood in front of him was the exact replica of his father. He remembered every detail about him. Those muscular tall body like that of a bodybuilder, capable of scaring anyone, yet those brown eyes held softness that spoke the exact opposite of his demeanor. The light stubbles on his strong-cut face which had now grown into a full beard with some wrinkles but he still looked as young as he did back then. It just couldn't be. He was still in the phase of accepting that his brother was alive and now this? His father was alive too.
"Officer Lightwood? I'm not a ghost that you're scaring away from and I'm certainly not like deceased Imogen Herondale. I'm friendly, alright. Just relax."
"W.. what's your name?" Alec found himself asking, ignoring that he already had. It just didn't make sense to him.
"Alec, that's rude," Elijah said, a hint of fear in his tone.
"It's alright, officer Stalkweather. I'm Lucian Graymark, but you all can refer to me as Luke."
Alec's heartbeat didn't seem to slow down as he stared into those brown eyes. Those same brown eyes, that same face he yearned to see once again his entire childhood and now that he had, he couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe that his father was standing right in front of him. He wanted to leap into his arms and sob his heart out, but those eyes have no hint of recognition whatsoever. Lucian Graymark, is that the name he grew accustomed to after losing his memories? Just like Jace did.
Thinking of it, Jace was abused with salad drug to wipe his memories, he had been exposed to that same drug when he lived in downtown but it didn't affect him for some reason so could it be possible that the same drug was abused on his father too?
"Alec... Alexander Lightwood." Alec said after he took a deep breath to get out of the shock. He couldn't let his emotions overwhelm and cloud his mind when they were dealing with one of the most dangerous mafias to ever exist. He needed to think and plan things through. "I'm... I'm sorry about my reaction, commissioner. You... ummm, you look a lot like my father. He's... dead."
"I'm so sorry to hear that officer Lightwood." A worried look crossed over Luke's face as he loosened his stance. "You must have thought that you'd seen a ghost. It's understandable. Are you okay now?"
"Y.. yeah. I'm sorry again." Alec said in a shaky voice. "You had asked for me?"
"Actually yes," Luke waved his hand towards the chair then hopped on the desk again, and somewhere deep in his mind, his mother's faint voice surfaced, bringing up all the memories of them when she scolded Robert for sitting that way in every possible place he found. "You are the witness of Imogen Herondale's murder. Can you recall what you had seen?"
"A car speeding towards Jace's car," Alec said as he slowly sat in the chair, noticing the worried looks on Elijah and Emmanuel's faces but chose to ignore. "I didn't know the commissioner was inside. I just saw Jace heading towards it and ran to save him. I noticed the driver was laying back on the seat without any movement and presumed that it was a dead body and turned out I was right."
"I'm still researching and learning about this sensational case." Luke said, "And by far what I've gathered is that Commissioner's death or the attack that was meant for Jace Herondale is connected to the framing of Magnus Bane for the murder of Stephen and Celine Herondale, who are apparently Imogen's son and his wife. Am I right by far?"
"Yes Sir."
"I've looked into the news reporting and it says the FBI has proof that this Magnus Bane is being framed. The government had issued orders to catch the real culprit as soon as possible, which means we have to work with the FBI on this case. With the murder of such 'reputed people', yes I know how reputed they were, this case needs to close this week itself.
