"You should be resting, commissioner Graymark," Elijah said, keeping the folder he asked for gently on his desk.

"Thank you for your concern, officer, but it's just minor burns. I've dealt with worse," Luke said as he picked up the report and started signing the documents.

"He's right, da... Commissioner, after what happened yesterday, you should not be on the field and nor should agent Ashblood and so many others." Alec said, even after knowing how stubborn his father was.

"Talking about others," Luke said, ignoring him altogether. "Please make sure the media won't blow it up as our irresponsibility and other bullshit. We have lost so many officers and innocents already."

After the spine-chilling attack at the Herondales funeral, they found out that the buildings adjacent to NYPD and FBI had been attacked too, resulting in the deaths of over 50 people as it was a cafe and a privately owned house. His friends were injured but thanks to their luck, they all were fine. Except for Izzy and Luke who were the definition of stubbornness like him and were already back on duty, despite needing the rest.

Taking advantage of the situation, Alec asked the doctor to do a DNA test on all three of them, despite knowing that they were his siblings. There wasn't any harm in that. As they waited for the result, Victoria assured that she'd look into the source by which Izzy was being abused by this drug.

By far this mafia gang had caused havoc in the city and needed to be stopped no matter what it takes. The constant attacks were like a mockery to them and their government, as if they were claiming the city as theirs. It was a slap on their faces that criminals like them had all the powers while they were bounded by the rules and laws of government.

"The media has got wind of it, commissioner." Elijah said, "It won't take long for it to become a wildfire. We need to do something sooner rather than later."

"Damn it!" Luke slapped the table, then leaned back and rubbed his temples. "What about Magnus Bane? Tell me he's coming."

"Already here, commissioner." Said a voice and Magnus came in having a pissed expression on his face, along with Valreen who had a visible cut on his arm and an expression that said - mess with me and it'll be the last moment of you on this earth. "I was told that the new commissioner of police is nothing like that bitch, but this weird request for a private talk is making me have a second guess."

"I apologize for whatever's about to happen in advance, Mr. Bane," Luke said, stood up, and outstretched his hand. "Lucian Graymark."

Eyeing him from the head to wherever Magnus's gaze reached, Magnus carefully shook hands with Luke. "Magnus, not that you don't know. I'm all over the news lately."

"Regarding that," Luke said and took a deep breath. "I don't like stalling so I'd come to the point. We've got orders to arrest you."

"What!?" Both men said in unison and never before Alec had seen a deadly, predator-like look in Valreen's eyes. It was like there was a different person standing in front of him and not the Val he knew.

"Uhh, Val, calm down, please. Hear everything out first." Alec said, heartbeats rising a thousand times faster when the man didn't even acknowledge his words. "Val?"

Noticing, Magnus turned his head in Val's direction then held his fisted hand, rubbing his thumb over the back of it. "Uncle Val. Please don't. I'm as pissed but please...."
