Chapter 19. Surprise

Ashley's POV

Andy started off walking on his own but after about 10 minutes or so he began to stumble and I hurried to catch him. I threw his uninjured arm over my shoulder and tried to hold onto him but It was hard when I couldn't grasp his side. He was in really bad shape and if we didn't get him to the compound soon I wasn't sure he was going to make it.

"Are we lost? Ana took us a different direction that we hadn't been before..." I groaned as Jinxx said the words I had refrained from saying.

"I have no idea Jinxx. We need to figure this out pretty quick. I don't know how much longer Andy has." I looked over at Andy who was straining himself to stand but kept enough strength to stay on his feet.

"Well coming from the compound we went straight toward the F.E.A.R. building and took a right. So we will have to guess on how far we went each way but we should come by the compound if we take a left and go straight. Once we are in close enough to the compound someone will spot us." Jake stood there biting the tip of his thumb and looked down at Andy.

"Well let's go. There's only one way to prove your theory Jake." I tightened my grip on Andy's arm as I repositioned him at my side. He winced when I touched his arm but I had to keep a grasp on it to at least stop that from bleeding.

We let Jake lead us and were able to find a few traces of our foot prints from earlier but most had been blown away by the winds hat were picking up. The sky was already growing darker with each passing minute and we needed to find our home soon. Andy was also growing weaker and slipped from my grasp a few times but I caught him and helped him back to his feet. We were getting closer I could feel it but I just didn't know how close we were. We could still be a few hours away and it was a few hours that we didn't have.

We walked on a little longer and finally spotted the compound in the horizon and by that time I was almost dragging Andy at my side. He slipped, loosing his footing and I grabbed onto him tighter but with all of the blood that coated my hands, he slipped through my grasp and fell to the ground. I fell to my knees at his side and placed both of my hands on his face which was extremely pale and slightly cold. His eyes were closed and his breathing was slightly rugged.

"Andy, we are almost there stay with us!" I slapped his cheek pretty hard and his eyes fluttered open, but it looked like he was having trouble focusing.

"Here I'll carry him." Jake walked over to the other side of Andy and picked him up, getting him into a good position before starting off in a hurried walk. I jumped up and ran to catch up with Jake.

"I'm going to run ahead and warm Michelle so she can have everything ready." Jake nodded and I pushed into an aggressive run, making it to the compound as quick as I could.

I stopped dead in my tracks at the devastation of the compound. A few of the huts were on fire and a few others were already a pile of ashes. Luckily the medical hut had been untouched but something was utterly wrong about this picture. I looked around for a few seconds and couldn't see anyone around so I ran into the medical hut to find Michelle and a few of the other Rebels hiding in the back tight corner.

"What the hell happened here!" Michelle realized it was me and ran over to me, tears running down her cheeks.

"F.E.A.R happened. The Shadows appeared shortly after you guys left and started destroying everything. Most of them are dead now but some are still lose and are intending to kill us all. CC is out there trying to help but he is still too injured to do much." My eyes widened with shock and I grabbed her shoulders pulling her back from me and looked into her eyes.

"Jake is coming with Andy. He is severely hurt and will need your attention right away. I'm going to go help with the battle. When Jake and Jinxx drop off Andy tell them what happened and send them to find us." Michelle nodded and I let her go, running from the hut and toward the sound of screams.
