Chapter 27. A Few New Twists

Lourdes POV

"There isn't anyone here... How could this have happened again? What the fuck are we doing wrong Andy?" I looked up at him and could see how lost he was within himself.

"I don't fucking know Lourdes..." He hung his head low in his hand and shook it side to side.

CC came running up to us hoping we had found something but his hope faded quickly when he saw the despair on our faces.

"No..." He stood there completely disheartened.

"I'm so sorry CC..." I said sympathetically as I moved over to him and embraced him.

"I don't want your sympathy right now. I just want my sister and my fiancé alive and in my arms!" CC pulled away from me with enough force that I ended up staggering back.

"Wait, when did you-" Andy started but his voice trailed off mid-sentence.

"It was a few nights ago. I was getting ready to tell you the day you guys disappeared but I hadn't had the chance until now, now that it is all too late..." CC looked down at the ground, almost on the brink of tears.

"We will find them CC. Don't give up hope." I gave a small half smile trying to cheer him up at least a little but all I could see in front of me was a broken man who had just had his world taken from him.

"You don't understand Lourdes... Michelle is... pregnant." I was taken back by the news and the urgency of the situation really dawned on me.

"Oh fuck..." The words slipped off of Andy's barely moving lips and he stood there just as shocked as I was.

"Andy and I still have a few places to check. If they are not here we will leave immediately and go find them." I moved closer to him and placed my hand on his shoulder, looking into his tormented eyes.

CC gave a small nod before placing his hand on top of mine, moving from my security after a few second and went to go see if anyone else had found anything. I watched as he slinked away and walked back over to Andy, looking into his distraught filled eyes. He was worried about his brother and honestly, I think we all were.

Jakes POV

We had been looking around the wreckage for about a hour now and nobody had found a sign of anything. I sighed deeply as I crouched down and began looking through the last pile of rubble on this side of the compound. I threw the last piece of charred wood to the side and rested my arms on my knees as I looked around. Sam was a few feet away with Amy, putting out the small fires that had started once we moved the burning embers. I figured it would be a good time to head back and tell the others that our area was clear so I stood up and turned around, almost crashing right into Tia.

"Come with me!" I swiftly grabbed her wrist and began pulling her behind me, trying to find CC as quick as possible. We finally reached him and I let her arm go.

"CC! Look I found Tia!" He twirled on his heels, a hopeful smile gracing his lips but as he looked around it quickly faded.

"Where is she you said you had found her but I can't see anyone." I looked at him a little bewildered, pointing to where she was standing next to me.

"She's right here dude!"

"Jake that isn't funny. She is out there and in trouble. We need to find her and Michelle before something terrible happens, not stand here and pretend they are safe."

"But I'm not pretending she is right-" I looked back at her and was instantly filled with dread, actually getting a good look at her.

Her white shirt had a blood pooling from her right side, a thin line of blood seeping from the crook of her lips. Blood dripped from her fingertips, onto the sand and I lifted my hand to find it covered from where I had grabbed her.
