Today is much the same as others, I sit in the corner of the cell, cold and hungry left with nothing but a few scraps thrown at me through the gaps of the bars. The floor is cold and damp, the rough concrete scratches against my skin and the constant tapping of falling drops of water echo through the empty basement.
Silco, my so-called father put me in here years ago, claiming I 'would never be good enough for him' and that he had found someone who could execute his plans better. He was always a shit father, never loved me like a dad should, care for me, respect me... simply just be there for me.
We would always get into fights, yelling about everything that happened with mum and how he blames me for it all. I'm not too sure what he is up to now, no one ever comes down here and if they do it is normally to give me a small piece of bread so I don't starve to death. I hear the creaks of the door opening, the room filled with the lights of the upstairs bar. The sound of chattering, laughing and joy fills the once silent room, must be fun to be free, out with friends having a drink, or just joking around.
I expect this person to simply come and leave, most likely the same tall fat guy that always throws me food. Im not sure if Silco tells him to or if it is out of pity but either way I'm grateful. "Hello?" The voice sounds weary, a light pitches feminine voice from the top of the stairs "Any monsters in here?" She giggles to herself. "Depends, am I a monster to you?" I speak up, she is silent for a few seconds although I know she is moving closer, her footsteps are heavy against the floor.
Soon enough she emerges into view, she seems average height, long blue hair tied into two braids. Her outfit is filthy although I can't say much about mine, her facial features are soft and delicate, and looking into her eyes they hold a sense of guilt. "Who are you?" She asks confused, staring down at me expectantly "What's it to you?" I stare back. "Why are you down here?" She begins pondering back and forth, her arms crossed in front of her body.
"I've been down here for years, really the question is what are you doing down here?" I raise an eyebrow at her "Silco never lets me come down here, says that it's dangerous and not for me to see but he isn't here and I got bored" She shrugs, "I see, you and Silco, what's that relationship?" I ask curiously "He's like a dad to me" She giggles, taking a seat in front of the cell.
"A dad?" I ask, she nods her head and then changes the subject "Im Jinx, a pleasure to meet you" Her voice is cheerful, surely lightening the mood "Y/n" I answer cautiously. "Do, why you down here stranger" She waits for me to answer her question "Silco he... put me down here years ago. Said I'm not needed but doesn't want to kill me" I tell her, I'm not sure how to react to her, based on her saying Silco is like a dad to her I guess he is the 'Better person' Silco found which is why I'm down here "Silco? No... he wouldn't do that," she tells herself. "He's my dad. I'm guessing she found you and thought you were better" I tell her, I guess since she is down here I may as well tell her what kind of person Silco is "He wouldn't do that! Shut up!" She turns next to her and yells, quickly making me feel uneasy.
"Are you good?" I question, she turns back to look at me, moving closer to the bars. I get a better look at her, she looks around my age, and she is rather pretty "Did you do something bad?" She asks curiously "No, I did nothing" I sigh "I didn't mean to! He won't lock me up" She says to herself, quickly shuffling away from the bars and holding her head on her lap, her knees close to her chest. "Jinx? What's... happening?" I question, unsure if it's something I should be asking or not. After years of being down here you kinda forget things you can and can't ask, how to communicate in general "They keep lying, they say he will lock me up too!" She tells me in a panicked voice, if I wasn't confused then I defiantly am now.
"Who...?" "Huh? no one, it's fine!" things are getting weird and I don't like it. "I can't stay long, but I want a new friend... would you be my friend?" She asks me, moving back to the bars so I can see her better again, I'm not sure how to answer but I do like the company "yeah, ill be your friend: I hesitantly answer her "Yay! I'll find a way to get you out of here! Then we can be friends, best friends! and nothing will ever go wrong, not this time" She drags off to talk to herself, I don't know if I should be scared or not.
"That's not a good idea, you can't get me out of here believe me, and even if you do Silco will find a way to get me back down here I promise you that" I urge at her, knowing whatever plan this girl has isn't going to work "Oh I'm sure it will... it's ok... don't worry" She smiles at me before quickly standing up. "I'll come back later, I won't leave, I wouldn't do that to you" She smiles again before rushing out the door before I could say anything else to her.
Im not sure who that girl really was, or how to react to everything that just happened but all I know is that I'm scared, scared of her, what she plans to do, what Silco will do with that plan... Everything.
