A Pirate's Life

Chapter 16

Next morning at the rise of the sun, the pair pack up food they've already gotten prepared for the trip. They triple check the boat, test it and make sure there are no leaks. Once they're ready to go they do so, pushing off with oars that Steve made in his spare time. They travel about mainly in silence, the two men thinking of their fates. Soon the two make it to another island, a more populated one.

Brace yourself here... feels alert and ick alert. Sorry. I am so sorry. :(

The island was populated with bodies. Dead, grotesque looking human bodies. Steve and Bucky wander around, praying it's nobody they know. Unfortunately, there are a few familiar faces.

Bucky's heart seems to stop when he sees a half eaten carcass of Pierce, half his teeth showing through the rotten flash stretched over his face. His stomach turns and he looks away; looking green, he walks over to Steve who was kneeling next to a body, silent tears dripping down his face.

Steve gazes down at what's left of Jim, he truly looked a sight that's kinda too grotesque to mention. The blondes' shoulders shook; Jim had been a great man, a friend to Steve.

Bucky gently lays a hand on Steve's shoulder, and the blonde Commodore clutches at it like a lifeline.

After another brief search they find Arnim, missing an arm, a leg and most of his torso. Steve goes green and throws up, that sight was finally too much for the blonde to handle.

Buck helps him away from the bodies, just glad that a few of their crew members made it. Or at least had been graced with missing that unfortunate death.

Steve wipes his mouth, trembling like a leaf. Without another word they get back onto their boat and leave that horrible island.

They keep travelling and somehow, they make it to none other than Port Whedon, feeling at least a tiny bit hopeful that their crew mates could've made it back here safe and sound.

Again, so sorry for that rather disgusting part. I felt I had to explain what happened to some of them, though. So sorry. :(
