Bucky started to get anxious when about thirty minutes had passed by and no sound of fighting could be heard from outside. Bucky sits up, gingerly testing the pressure on his left arm. He finds it steady and with only a slight twinge in his shoulder. Whoever did the doctors' work did miracles.
Bucky slowly gets up off the mat, gathering up his sword. He sneaks up the stairs quietly, his head already back in the game, heart pounding with anxiety.
He doesn't hear anything from outside, so he pokes his head out the door, tensing for the blow that never comes. He never relaxes, though, mainly because he simply can't hear anything, can't here any fighting. It made him nervous, especially that he couldn't see Steve anywhere.
He wanders around carefully, keeping a wary eye out for stray guards. When he hears something being read out out and occasional coughs he pales and quickens his pace towards the sound.
He gets to the square and gasps quietly from shock when he sees everyone facing the gallows, the hangman's noose. He sees the crew of the Commando and even some of his own crew. Well, who was left in his crew.
But he only had eyes for Steve, who looked worried. Not for his own life, but for Bucky's and his crew mates' lives. He felt awful that this was all his fault; all these deaths, all these injuries, all of everything, really.
Bucky's eyes widen when he can tell that the reader is almost finished his reading, that these people he grew to care about were looking death straight in the face.
He hastily tries to think up a plan to save them, though he can't save them all.
Everyone facing death gets their necks all readied up for the hang, the ropes being tightened to the right length. Bucky had to do something and he had to do something fast. If he didn't, all he knew would die.
Natalia meets his eyes and being the smart lass she is, she doesn't make his spot known. But inside her head she was praying that Bucky had a plan to save a few people. That's what he usually did, anyway. When they were plundering Bucky would only wound their victims, not kill them himself. And he never even gave orders to kill, his crew just did it anyway.
Bucky comes up wih a plan, but he couldn't save everyone. He just couldn't.
He races up to stop the murders just as they're about to be hung. He kicks, he slashes, he makes it so that the 'murder lever' can't be pulled. He dodges, he ducks, he slices, he punches. Bucky does everything he can. He ends up defeating almost all of the guards, and saving lives.
By the end of it all, he had Steve, Natalia, Peggy, Dum Dum, Monty, and Ward. The rest had been hung. Peggy was sobbing onto Steve's shoulder as she avoided the look of Gabe and the other crew of the S.S Starchaser. Bucky was trying not to lose it, furiously blinking back tears. Ward took off as soon as possible, not even thanking the man, his Captain, that saved his stinkin' life.
Guards come and approach him but this time Bucky talks instead of fights. He explains what he was doing, and he hands himself over for jailing, which he does have to do. But, who all is left gets to escape the death penalty.
Finally Bucky's let out from jail, and Steve was so proud of him. As soon as he sees Bucky sauntering out from the jailhouse he hurries over to him. He puts one hand on the brunette's hip, the other on the brunettes' back. He dips him and leans down for the kiss which Bucky gladly accepts.
He pulls Bucky back up properly after a while, the blonde was blushing furiously but Bucky didn't seem to mind.
"So, Commodore. Now what?" Bucky croons happily.
"Who knows, Captain. No more pirate business, you've been let free." Steve whispers softly and Bucky smiles.
"We should make another boat. You know, remake S.S Stucky. Have a crew, fight crimes. We have enough for a proper crew." Bucky suggests.
Steve smiles and kisses Bucky's cheek gently, he nods.
Days later, the crew of the S.S Stucky were ready to sail the open seas. The crew was made up of Peggy, Dum Dum, Monty and Natalia, with Steve and Bucky as Captains both. Everything was good now, fighting crime.
Steve stood on deck with Bucky at his right side.
"Let's go, Captain." Bucky purrs.
"Aye, aye, sir." Steve murmurs, smirking as he kisses Bucky. They sail away off into the big blue sea, happily fighting crimes and being with whom they want.
