When Fred resurfaces after the wall collapses on him during the Battle of Hogwarts, he is stunned to find that he hasn't passed on. Instead, he's stuck in a sort of limbo where he can see what goes on around him, but cannot interact with any of the people still alive. That is, until he encounters Lavender Brown, his brother's ex. Lavender is still a bit bitter that Granger didn't do more to save her from the jaws of a werewolf, but she also regrets much of the time she wasted at Hogwarts. When she knocks into Fred Weasley, she begins to realize that they share a special connection. What that means for their time in-between remains to be seen.
I love the creativity of this story! This is about the only version of Lavender that I actually like and the writer does a wonderful job exposing her insecurities and other experiences that run parallel to the events of the original series. Lily Argent's timeline is also incorporated, adding another dimension to those familiar with the author's other works. The dynamic between Lavender and Fred is fun and full of sparks, desperation and snarkiness that intertwine into a intriguing combination. This book spins quite the adventure and although a sequel was never published, I certainly recommend giving this series a whirl!
