Jordan’s P.O.V

*5 Days later

Wow. It’s already been two days now and Kat still hasn’t woken up yet. All of us have been getting really worried and could barely sleep through the nights without thinking about her.

Nathan was released from the hospital just three days ago, all patched up and fine. As soon as he was released, he took me out to dinner at this expensive restaurant in Boston to make up for not really “being with me” while he was in the hospital.

I tried to protest and tell him that he was stabbed for crying out loud, but I just let it go because between you and me, I’ve been wanting to go to that restaurant since I was 12!!

Rachael, Tom, Jay, Heather, Willow, Siva, Nathan, and I all left the hospital the second day because we were needed yet again at the police station to answer some questions about Jason. When we were done with that, we tried to go back to the hospital, but Max told us we could go home and just relax because he knows that the hospital really isn’t the most comfortable place to sleep in.

Max.

Oh Max.

There was never one second when he left Kat. Never. He stood by her door every time the doctors were in the room, and when he could go inside, he would sit next to her and hold her hand, hoping she would wake up soon.

Oh my goodness, everyday, I felt even worse, thinking that I was the reason for all this. Maybe if I never brought Jason into everyone’s lives, Kat would be okay, her and Max would be in love like two normal lovers, and everyone else would just be happy and sugar and rainbows and stuff.

But no.

My life just had to be messed up, and I just had to drag the ones I cared about with me.

Ugh.

“Babe, you alright?” I heard Nathan ask me.

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to look at him. We’ve gotten pretty close, so I know there was no point lying to him because he could easily tell. “No, not really.” I replied.

Nathan grabbed my hand and started stroking it with his thumb. “It’s about Kat, isn’t it?”

I nodded my head.

He sighed and stared at the ground for a second before looking back up at me and speaking up, “You know it’s not your fault, right? No matter what you say, you know that there wasn’t anything you could’ve done that day that would’ve made a difference.”

“Well maybe I could’ve called the police as soon as I saw her instead of listening to Jason’s messed up instructions!”

“Jordan, the doctors said that by Jason’s large impact, it broke her head open and she lost a lot of blood almost straight away! It wouldn’t have made a difference whether or not you called help as soon as you saw her!”

I opened my mouth to speak again, but stopped myself when I realized there was nothing to say. Nathan leaned closer and wrapped his arms around me. “Listen, she’ll be okay. Trust me. You need to stop blaming yourself for this.”

“Whatever.” I mumbled.

“KNOCK, KNOCK!!!” Willow yelled from the other side of my door. “HEY, YOU TWO BETTER HAVE CLOTHES ON, ‘CAUSE I’M COMING INSIDE ANYWAY!” she said before opening the door with a huge smile on her face and a phone in her hands. “Hey, hey, you two love birds!”
