Nolan POV

the first practice of the season was the most important one o believe because it sets the tone for the whole season. so we have to make sure it goes off without a hitch. so here I was warming up while I wait for the rest of the team to arrive, I always liked to be early. my parents always instilled in me that if you are not half an hour early you are half an hour late. its something I have taken with me through life.

"sup man" Brody called out as he dropped down on the bench beside me.

"hey," I kept my reply simple.

"you okay?" he asked with a concerned look on his face.

"ya man I am good" I nodded.

"so you saw the fine-looking cowboys as you walked in yesterday?" he was grinning.

"I did" I confirmed.

"that's it?" he almost looked offended.

"ya, that's it" I nodded.

"wow, I thought for sure one of them would have captured your attention" he looked shocked.

"well, I never said that one didn't" I was cryptic.

"dude spill' he burst out with a grin.

"nothing to tell just caught a glance" I was honest.

"well damn you should have gone up to her" he gave me a face that pretty much said I was stupid.

" you know the rules when  training." I reminded him.

"Okay fair" he nodded.

there is a rule put in place that when either the cheerleader or football players are practicing, we can't bother the one that isn't. as there are so many ways to get distracted and risk an injury if we aren't paying attention.

"so you still coming to the party tonight?" he asked me.

"of course I love Grace." Grace was Brody's sister. and it was her twenty-third birthday party tonight.

"cool, she's bringing her girlfriend and her roommate. so you will get to meet them" he tells me.

"awesome can't wait to meet them," I tell him.

the practice was over after two hours, and it was a great practice I could tell that the team is just really clicking this year. which makes me excited for the season to start. I just finished my ice bath and was getting ready to change. I still had to go home to change for the party cause I was about to show up in my gym shorts, brody mom would have my head.

"see you in like an hour" Brody called out as he was leaving the changing room.

I didn't both reply, I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder and made my way out. when I remembered my car keys were in my bag, so I slung them off my shoulders.

"oh crap," I heard behind me. I quickly turned around and the sight in front of me had me speechless.

"oh, crap are you okay" I finally blurted as I saw the cute girl from yesterday she was holding her nose.

"I think so, my bad I shouldn't walk with my phone in my hand" she gave a slight chuckle.

"here," I said as I bent down and handed her her phone that dropped.

"Thanks" she smiled at me and it made my heart flutter.

"Are you sure your okay?" I felt terrible.

"ya I am good no blood so that's always good," she says.
