Skylar POV

"you sure you want to do this today?" I looked at Nolan with a raised eyebrow.

but I should have known better, of course,  he does. It's what these brothers do. they bug and pick on each other. 

"Baby did that just really come out of your mouth" he looked at me with an are you kidding me look. 

"Sorry," I put my hands up in defence.

we both climbed out of his truck and then made our way inside. 

"Ma" Nolan calls out. 

then his mom came walking out of the kitchen, she was wearing an apron. she rushes over to me and pulls me into a hug. Nolan looked at her with wide eyes that she hugged me first and not him.

"wipe that look off your face," she tells him. 

"Jackson has a girlfriend you can bug now" he blurts.

and her eyes widen, I was not expecting him to do it this soon. But I should have to be honest.

"how do you know this?" she asked him with a questioning look.

"I have a very reliable source" Nolan smiled and pulled me in front of him.

"she's your source?" his mom looked at me with a look of curiosity on her face.

"Yup she ran into Jackson the other day, and some ginger girl named Kennedy called him babe and they were holding hands" Nolan listed.

"is this true?" she asked me.

Well sorry Jackson, I just nodded not my head to confirm. then to make matters worse I walked the rest of the boys from I am assuming the barn. Nolan sends Jackson a smirk. 

"Okay, so I can explain" Jackson rushes out before his mom can say anything, and Seth, Oliver and Tyson all look at Jackson with a confused look.

"Well, I am waiting" his mom placed a hand on her hip.'

"Ma come do you really need to know what's going on" Jackson groaned.

"Well when I have to find out from your brother that you have a girlfriend, I think that is cause for an explanation," she says. 

"girlfriend" Tyson, Seth and Oliver all blurt out in shock. 

"It's not official yet" Jackson defended. 

"so do all of your friends call you babe?" Nolan added fuel to the flame.

Jackson looks at me and I put my hands up in defence. but I mean he had it coming from how much he bugs Nolan about me. 

"wait what does Skylar have to do with this?" Seth wondered.

"She ran into him and Kennedy the other day at a coffee shop." Nolan filled in the blanks.

"she's pretty too Jackson you got good taste, I never would have pegged you to be into redheads though. I always had you down for Burnet" I decided to add in to this.

"wait are you talking about Kennedy  Clarkson?" Oliver adds.

"do you know her?" Their mom asked.

"her sister Fallon is in my program, she talks about her sister all the time. and she mentioned she just started seeing some guy, she's a pageant girl" Oliver explained.

"wait is her mom Evevlyn Clarkson?" their mom adds.

"yes," Oliver adds.

"What is happening right now" Jackson looked horrified.

"I went to school with their mom, I have not seen her in years. last I hear they moved to Huston" Their mom claimed.

"they moved back about a year ago, now they live in the city," Oliver tells us.

"wow small world" their mom had a smile on her face.

"so who was that older dude I saw you at the shop with?" Jackson changed the subject.

this caused me to tense , I did not necessarily want them to know. But I mean it was going to come out eventually. Nolan was going to say something but I gave him a nod. 

"That was Sebastian, he's um my birth father" I dropped the bomb. 

"birth father?" He looked confused.

"ya I found out about a month ago I was adopted." I kept the bombs coming.

"well, crap" Tyson was the first one to speak.

"dude" Nolan smacked the back of his head.

"awe what was that for" he groaned and grabbed the back of his head.

"cause that was rude," their mom tells him.

"honestly is okay" I  felt bad I mean what are you supposed to say when someone says something like that to you?

they were all looking at me with sad faces and I felt weird, and I think Nolan noticed.

"Ma what's for lunch i am starving" he changed the subject and I was glad. 

I was grateful for the change, this was still a sore subject for me.

"I kept it light and just made some pasta salad, and some sandwiches," she claimed.

the boys all started to make their way to the kitchen, but my phone started to ring. I saw it was Camry calling me. 

"hi," I say as I pick up.

"hi," she had a weird tone in her voice.

"you okay? you sound weird" I hope nothing was wrong.

"you haven't been online in the last hour have you?" she asked. 

"No Nolan and I just got to the ranch," I tell her.

"Well I hate to be the one to drop this bomb, but somehow your name has been released to the public" She dropped a bomb.

"What!" I said louder than anticipated. 

Nolan comes rushing over to me with a worried look on his face. it's not that I knew this wouldn't happen, but I just was not ready.

"It's all over Twitter and Instagram" She just kept it exploding.

"Thanks for telling me, I mean I guess I knew this would happen someday" which was not a lie, I just wasn't sure if I was ready or not for this to happen yet.

Nolan gave me a look wanting to know what was happening, i held up a finger to let him know in a second.

"You going to be okay?" she asked.

"I hope so" I was honest.

we said our goodbyes and then hung up. I sighed and was trying not to cry, I mean I knew this would happen one day. I just wasn't sure if I was ready for this. But I love Nolan, and I can't see myself without him. Which means dealing with the fame.
