Nolan POV

"that's how we start the season boys " I yelled out as we were all walking back into the locker room. it was my job as captain to hype up the team.

but let me tell you we were hyped, winning the first game was how we wanted to start this season.

"whoo whoo whoo" all the guys were cheering and carrying on. but like I said we won so it's well deserved.

"alright boys I know we are excited and we deserve to be, but we can't let this get in our heads. we need to keep this energy and hard work as we move on in the season." Coach walked into the room.

he made very fair points, especially after what happened last year being knocked out right before the super bowl. it was a major disappointment. so we cannot let that happen again this year. which I am pretty sure we all agree on, having something so close to being snatched. It sucked ass big time, so we were all on a mission this year.

"so Sanders you going home to celebrate with your girl" Kellen one of my teammates grins with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

the team figured out quickly about Skylar and me, but I know they all respect me enough to keep this quiet. we have all done it for each other many times.

"Yo at least he has a girl to celebrate with" Damien jumped in, he was one of the few committed guys on the team.

He just recently married Kimmy, she is Cowboy with Skylar.

"ya, 'cause I have more than one to celebrate with" Kellen fought back.

"you just don't get it" Damien was right it is just different when you have someone who cares about you, and not just the fact you won a football game.

"your all saps now" another one of my teammates called out from somewhere.

I mean maybe but I did not care. I shook my head and grabbed my towel so I could go and shower. I knew my family would all be waiting for me. I also had hoped that Skylar and her family would join us, I wanted to celebrate with my girl.

plus I wanted to check in with her and see how sees doing. I never even thought to think how hard today could be for her. So I wanted her to know I was there for her. it hurt me to see her crying earlier.

"good game today son" Coach calls out as he sees me starting to head out.

"Thanks, coach" I called back.

I walked out of the tunnel where I knew my family would all be waiting.

"Nolan" Haven my six-year-old cousin calls out and rushes over to me, causing my family to all break out in smiles.

I bent down so I could scoop her up.

"hi, Havie" I smiled.

"you won" she calls out in excitement.

"I know" I smiled.

Mom came over so I placed Haven down, and she wrapped me in a hug.

"you played great" she smiled.

"Thanks, Mom"

"so what's this I hear about you having a lady friend?" My grandma was smirking as she came into view.

"ya, Skylar she's one of the Cowboys," I tell her.

"oh look at that goofy look" my Grandad comes up behind Grandma.

"is she coming over later?" Mom questions.

"I am not sure her family is here, I told her she could bring them with her." I had to add the last part or Mom would have my head.
