Happiness. That is all we ever want in life. To find that one person we can't live without, the person we look forward to seeing every day. The one that all they have to do is look at you and you know they love you. Kim Junkyu had all that, but in a blink of an eye, it was taken from him.
He stared at the coffin in front of him, tears rolling down his face. He didn't even think he had any tears left; he hadn't stopped crying since they told him about Haruto. He couldn't even process what had happened, it just couldn't be right. Not his Haruto, not the love of his life, and definitely not his true mate —or so he thought.
It was just the other day that he was saying goodbye to him, and now he was standing in a graveyard as the priest spoke about his lover. Haruto was his world and now he was gone. Junkyu was never going to see him smile, hear him laugh and Haruto was never going to hold him. Junkyu was going to miss it all and he was dying without him.
Closing his eyes, he just wanted the funeral to be over. He just wanted to go back to his empty apartment with an empty heart and try to figure out what he was going to do with himself now that Haruto was no longer there as his soul's purpose in life. Yet deep inside, he wasn't ready to leave Haruto all alone in his grave.
He felt lost in the sea of black attire and designer labels —but black all the same— to mourn the alpha they knew nothing about. Unlike them, Junkyu had to cover himself with Haruto's coat that was thick with his scent to hide his distress pheromones that he could no longer control. No one dared to come near him except for his beta friends and Haruto's omega brother.
"Let's go home." Said Yedam, one of his best friends, rubbing his back gently as he kneeled on one leg next to him. Though the beta couldn't smell his scent, he knew very well Junkyu wasn't in his best state to stay any longer. Haruto's coffin could no longer be seen and those who could bear with Junkyu's scent had gradually left the wet mound.
"Home.." He mumbled as his empty eyes gazed at his lover's headstone. "My home is here, where do you want me to go?" He asked with his hoarse voice.
"Junkyu-ya, Haruto won't like it if he sees you like this." Asahi crouched down, brushing the hair out of Junkyu's face. Even though he looked terrible himself, in his eyes, his supposed-to-be brother-in-law in three weeks, looked even worse.
He stared at the silver ring around Junkyu's finger and remembered how happy his brother was when he announced he had proposed to Junkyu, and how despite Haruto's status as a well known businessman, they were planning to have a simple and intimate wedding ceremony. The wedding that now would never happen.
He remembers the day Haruto told him about Junkyu; he had never seen him so happy. And when he finally brought Junkyu home for them to meet, he saw what Haruto saw in him. Despite Junkyu's odd build as an omega, he is everything that his brother wanted and then Junkyu quickly became another brother for him.
"He could no longer see me. He was supposed to take me with him! We were supposed to crash down together on that plane!" Tears rolled down on Junkyu's face, there was no way to stop them. He lost his one and only and it wasn't fair. "We were supposed to be together forever.."
And now he was left there alone with a hole in his heart no one can ever fill like Haruto did.

Five years later...
Junkyu's routine was the same every morning since he lost Haruto. Every morning he woke up, got dressed and looked at the picture of him and Haruto he kept on his dresser. Five years and it still feels like it happened yesterday; not a day goes by that he doesn't think about the alpha. Today was five years since Haruto died and he would have been thirty-two, they would have been married and probably with pups already.
