Blame it on fate, but Junkyu had the worst shift ever when he prayed to get a slow day before he left for work. A middle school from another city had decided it was a good idea to take all of their students for a three-days and two-nights trip to his city to enjoy the last bit of summer, and they fed them a food that sent almost the entire school to his ER for severe food poisoning.

The ER waiting room was chaotic and quite a circus with a bunch of teenagers complaining about their condition, some were visibly grimacing and bearing the pain, some won't stop throwing up into the plastic bag the adults gave them, the smaller kids were crying for their parents and their teacher looked like they were running out of patience to calm them down, and some of the older ones and most likely the dicks in their school were snacking and joking around, clearly enjoying the commotion.

The emergency department wasn't understaffed by any means, but their ER wasn't built to cater a hundred and fifty patients at a time even though the hospital was one of the largest in the city. Nurses were becoming increasingly nervous that some of the children stuck in the waiting area had shown dehydration symptoms and there were also some with very high fevers, and with only a handful of nurses were available to keep an eye on people waiting, they could be unmonitored for extended periods of time. And as if it wasn't enough, the emergency line kept ringing from parents who were worried about their children and demanded answers from medics straight away instead of the teachers.

The situation was extremely difficult, Junkyu never heard so many nurses who were used with working in a stressful environment like ER, including himself say, "I am in serious fear for my license."

Junkyu lost count on how many children he was handling at a time, probably more than the number of his fingers, that they all began to blur into one for him. He'd planned to ask Jaehyuk about the gender test result he found inside JeongWoo's suit as he suspected his alpha got the result from him. But with the sudden chaos, he was barely able to breathe let alone find the surgeon, who unfortunately was on night duty today after extended-shift he had yesterday.

"Nooo! I don't want that! It hurts! I want mommy!" One of the children cried out loud when Junkyu was about to stick a needle into her intravenous line for IV. The girl was severely dehydrated and could get seizures anytime soon with her rapid heartbeat and high fever.

"I'm sorry, sweety. I promise I'll be quick and it won't hurt, okay?" Junkyu cooed, his heart was aching. The omega was weak for pups. "You will get better and can have fun with your friends after this, alright?"

The girl won't listen. He wanted to use his omega pheromone to calm her down but it was illegal to do so and Junkyu had to ask another nurse to give her some distraction while he injected the needle and swiftly installed the IV.

"We are running out of beds and gurneys!" Junkyu heard one of his colleagues shout to get his voice heard among all the buzzing noises from the kids and medics.

"Kai! Call CSD and ask what they can give us!" Another loud voice came from a senior physician who led the ER for today. "Check the condition on smaller kids and have them share a bed until we get backups!"

Junkyu didn't have time to ponder about the instruction, he quickly scanned around and spotted another girl with a small build occupying a bed. Unlike her current patient, that girl didn't have IV tube attached to her and no other equipment on her body, which could be the best bet for Junkyu to move his current patient there.
