"y/n~ do you mind lending me a hand?"

you looked up from your papers, wondering what childe could possible need help with to see him limping over to you with his glove stained red and pressed against his arm. you gasped, seeing childe's arm covered in blood running down from a large gash on his upper arm. the aura around him was a dull blue instead of the usual bright cerulean shade.

you immediately rushed over to him, channeling elemental energy from your hands and running it over his wound. you cursed under your breath when you realized that the bleeding wasn't stopping and the wound was starting to turn a sickly shade of purple. running a hand along his arm, you could tell by the way his muscles tensed that he was in pain even if his expression was a bright and cheery one.

"is this poison? what hurt you? childe? can you answer me?"

the panic in your voice rose with every question as you started bandaging the gash.

he took labored breaths as he answered, "don't worry, it was just a bathysmal vishap that caught me by surprise after i was recovering from my foul legacy form. it kinda drained my energy."

if it weren't for the severity of the situation, you would have smacked him for being so stupid. instead, you started rushing around your lab to find ingredients for medicine. in your scramble to get everything, you had nearly given him a bottle of whopperflower nectar instead of water. as he guzzled the water down heartily, you started mixing a bright blue concoction as well as a bright green healing potion.

"you're so reliable, y/n. i don't know what i'd do without you," he whispered hoarsely.

you felt your cheeks start to warm before you cleared your throat and responded, "don't say things like that while you're delirious. the blood loss is probably getting to you."

you handed him the blue potion and watched carefully as he drained the bottle. you noted that the color was starting to return to his face and that he was sitting a bit straighter.

"no, believe me when i say it. i'd be dead ten times already if it weren't for you. i wouldn't really be here."

you scoffed as you continued mixing the green potion, but was glad that he was even speaking to you. it was a clear sign that he was starting to regain energy from the potion.

"i'm an average healer, can't you tell by how my healing only just barely helps you?"

childe shook his head, thanked you quietly as you gave him the green potion, "don't say things like that. you're the best healer i know and no one else can help me like you can. even that weird baizhu guy can't help me at all."

you gestured at him to drink the potion and watched as the life started to return to his body. his eyes started to become brighter and his wound was starting to heal. the aura around him started to become more intense and now was a stormy blue. you decided not to tell childe that he had been nearly dying. had he come even 10 minutes later, his situation would have been much more dire.

"well that's because i've been helping you for years. it'd be strange if i wasn't helping you at all even after all this time," you said as you started unwrapping his bandage to check how quickly it was healing up. the purple was starting to neutralize back to his normal skin tone and you could see the wound closing up.

childe's eyes followed your hands as you worked, "yeah, and it's because you're an amazing healer."

you ignored him. "well, it seems like your wound is going to be fine, but tell me if it reopens or if you feel any pain. just don't do anything that will strain your arm. i'll just be here like always."

childe tried moving his arm lightly before his eyes widened. "wow, it really feels much better. see what i mean about your healing? how can i thank you for this?"

"i dunno, maybe don't get into situations where you'll get seriously injured?" you sighed as you started to clean up your work place and putting the potion ingredients back where they were supposed to go.

he laughed, "i'll consider it, but let me treat you to dinner, hm? i don't think i've ever properly thanked you for all that you've done for me."

you were about to say no like you always did, but something felt a bit different today. maybe it was what he was saying while he was probably delirious or maybe you were taking pity on him for nearly dying.

you dragged out another sigh before giving him a slight smile that made his aura glow stronger.

"fine, but you'd better be treating me to something good."

"of course, anything and everything for my favorite healer."
