sick day | diluc x reader

it was a rainy morning when diluc entered his office and looked at the papers in his hand. "good morning y/n, what is on my schedule today?"

when he didn't hear a response like he always did, he looked up from his papers to see an empty secretary desk. the papers and the computer were right where they were supposed to be but the secretary was nowhere to be found.

strange, diluc thought as he checked his watch. he had thought that maybe he had come too early but he was right on time. usually you would come to the office even earlier than him.

he went into his office and checked his computer to see if there were perhaps any emails about your absence but couldn't find any. he checked his phone to see if maybe there was even a text but you had never sent one. it was very unlike for you to even be out, but the fact that you weren't sending any messages made diluc slightly worried. just in case, he sent you an email.

however, diluc still had a job and he needed to finish his work for the day. as he expected, when he opened up the calendar, you had already put in everything that he needed to do for that day. following your very meticulous schedule, he finished his work quickly to check if you were fine. although he didn't want to be thinking in such a pessimistic manner, he was worried that you were in trouble.

he knew that it was abnormal for a ceo to be visiting his secretary's home but his worries for you outweighed his worries about anything else.

luckily for diluc, he didn't have nearly as much as he needed to do and had no meetings scheduled for that day so his work day ended very briskly at 4pm. after checking his emails one last time, he didn't see any response from you. he went into his car and checked to see where you lived and was surprised to find that you were quite nearby. he might as well get something for you to eat just in case.

he stopped by a local bakery and bought himself an americano and the drink you usually had on your desk as well as a soup and a few pastries. soon, he was already in front of your apartment carrying the food. for a few minutes he just stood in front of the door wondering if he really should check up on you and thinking of the repercussions. would you be uncomfortable about it? you always tended to be a bit shy around him. diluc waved those thoughts away and pressed the doorbell.

after a few moments, he heard no response and knew that you probably had reasons to not be at work. just as he turned to leave, he heard the click of the door and saw you huddled up in a blanket looking absolutely miserable. your nose and eyes looked irritated and you were clearly shivering.

"mr. ragnvindr? what are you doing here on a weekend?"

diluc felt his heart drop when he heard your hoarse voice whispering.

"y/n, it's a thursday. i was wondering why you weren't at work today but now i understand."

as if you couldn't look any more miserable, your face dropped in realization and you started apologizing profusely.

"i'm sorry i had no idea that it was a weekday. i'm so sorry, i should have at least sent an email but i hadn't even been able to get out of be-"

diluc cut you off. "it's fine. it's more important that you take care of your health."

you finally seemed to have noticed that diluc was still standing in the rain and proceeded to invite him into your home. it was as organized as he had expected but with all of the lights turned off and the rain coming down, it looked quite dreary.

you led him to a small table and diluc handed you your drink. you took it graciously with both hands and took a sip. diluc watched as you melted into a satisfied smile and took a sip of his own coffee. you were still bundled in the blanket but the drink must have warmed you up since you were no longer shivering as much. diluc noticed that you were wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants which indicated that you were stuck in bed. it was definitely a large contrast to his three piece suit that he always wore to work.
