"kaeya! can you give me an update on the situation?" you hissed into the earpiece after several stressful minutes of silence had passed.

you were crouching under the desk in an office cubicle that had been left empty after the work day was over. although the doors were locked and there was virtually no reason for anyone to enter the office, you still kept yourself hidden from the snezhnayan enemies. the mission had to go perfectly as your life and your partner kaeya's lives and the fate of mondstadt would be in your hands. the order had given you the mission of stealing important documents involving an invasion of a sort and had sent out their best agents: you and kaeya.

you and kaeya had only worked on another mission together once, and frankly, the two of you had barely interacted. of course, there was the occasional sly comment from him, but other than that, you never spoke with him and you definitely never spoke with him outside of work. however, you heard many rumors about him being a womanizer, flirt, etc. and you knew that several other agents you worked with tried to get with him. sure, he was good-looking, but he was also a spy and spies could never have relationships.

you heard a slight crackle from your earpiece. "kaeya?"

"update: the room with all of the documents is occupied by the tsaritsa and six of her guards." kaeya's smooth and admittedly soothing voice filled your ears. "frankly speaking, it seems like it will be a bit difficult for you, sweetheart. they're pretty big men."

"well the bigger they are, the harder they fall," you responded as you got into position to leave the office, "but can you double-check that they're the real documents and not some fake? you remember what happened last time right?"

kaeya chuckled lightly, "don't worry your pretty little head over that. they're the right ones. now hurry up and take those men out. i'll see if there's a way to get the tsaritsa to leave the room."

you sighed, "alright, give me a minute to get there."

after checking to make sure the coast was clear, you grabbed your weapons, including a knife that you stole from a snezhnayan agent you took out, and dashed to where kaeya said he was hiding. you climbed up the stairs and into a side vent after placing down a small robot and silently made your way to your partner.

"you have quite a lot of weapons with you," kaeya commented. you saw that his cheek was grazed, probably by a knife, and his hair was extremely disheveled, but you had to admit that he still looked really good.

you ignored him. "i put down a distraction 8 yards away from the door and it goes around a corner."

"once they hear it, i'm sure some of the guards are going to check on it and the tsaritsa will escape through another door behind her desk," he informed you, "the guards are somehow too big to fit through so she'll be the only one to go through. if she takes the documents with her, we'll have to chase after her, but if she leaves them, we'll grab them and go."

"then we need a situation where she'll put her life over the documents. it'll be easier to take out those guards than chase after her blindly."

you scanned the room and were glad to notice that one of the walls was simply a floor-to-ceiling window. you tapped into your earpiece and requested several drones to be flown in front of the windows. it didn't matter if they were armed or decoys, as long as they looked threatening.

kaeya hummed. "i see where you're going with this. let's hope it works."

"me too. they said the drones will get here in t-32 seconds."

you readied yourself to jump out of the vent with kaeya right behind you doing the same. you handed him the knife that the snezhnayan agent had dropped and armed yourself with another pair of knives. when you counted down to zero, you could hear the guards starting to clamor. when you heard a gunshot (whether it came from a drone or a guard, you couldn't tell) and the sound of a window breaking, you jumped out from the vent and dashed to the nearest guard.
