Chapter 9: The Apex Predators

Sector 70's flames only went out about a year ago and yet it reeked of burnt wood and flesh still. Colt wrinkled his nose in disgust and looked towards the tower in the distance.

"Why is it always towers?"grumbled Colt kicking a pebble down the street.

He knew that his place was on top of one but dammit this one is broken down as hell! That meant broken ass or even missing stairs! He still had a few miles to go. Colt couldn't use his Shadow Control to travel seeing as his Maynard blood took over the Leonard side.

"Damn you Foxe! I could use your power right about now!"yelled Colt and then he sighed sadly,"Sadly you're dead and gone."

Dammit whyd he keep feeling like this? Why did he feel so sad about Foxe? It needed to stop he had X-Terms to destroy and Astos to overrun with chaos! He didn't even understand that! Only Axel knew the reason why that wa the plan, it's been super confusing to him, Lorenzo and Malachi! They had made an army of creature and each of the three had a small group of guards, they were ready to take on the world.

The three of them could do it themselves..so why the roundabout way of using monsters? Why the guards for each of them? They were the main attack force! The Apex's Predators! A little cliche in name and what were they the Apex of? Colt shook his head and shrugged hopelessly. Axel never gave them answers just spouted out some crazy nonsense they never listened to. Government blah blah blah, X-Terms being full of assholes and prejudices blah blah blah. Axel was so tiring to listen to but he was so strong and none of them really had good been in their body, so they just follow.

Finally the doorway, well missing the door its just an archway, Colt walked in and was releaved to find he could use his powers. He couldn't travel long distances like Foxe but at least he can skip the damned stairs. Oh he couldn't wait to see his comrades again since it has been 2 months since they'd seen each other.

Sliding into the shadows and arriving shortly at the top he was greeted by the ever glaring face of the second ranked Predator, Lorenzo Tavish, and third rank, Malachi Larkspur. Of course Colt was ranked as the first his fire powers were stronger than Lorenzo's Metal and Malachi's Nature. Malachi gave him a run for his money though since Malachi's Nature's was poison plants.

"Renzo! Maly! So good to see you!"laughed Colt

"I hate your stupid pet names for us,"said Lorenzo,"Besides I've told you not to ever call me that."

"He definitely doesn't care Lorenzo!"laughed Malachi.

Colt actually remembered a conversation or twelve about it. Staring up at Lorenzo's massively muscled and hulking form. This man was a literal giant standing at what seemed like ten feet tall and he was literally a wall of muscle and his white hair and steel grey eyes made him stick out of anywhere.

Colt shuddered and whispered,"Sorry Lorenzo...is Axel here yet Malachi?"

Malachi wasn't as scary with his brown hair and emerald green eyes. He had a medium build and height to him. He was always so gentle but like his magic it was deceiving to think he wasn't also dangerous.

"We have yet to see the boss himself but he usually shows up right...about...now,"said Malachi softly and pointed at the center of the room.

Suddenly out of nowhere a bright flash of light and a deafening thunderclap later there in the middle of the room stood the Apex leader, Axel Blitz.
His long golden hair shining in the single ray of light from the ceiling and his yellow and red eyes glowing brightly.

"Welcome my friends,"Axel's smooth as silk voice rang out,"The time has come for the destruction of Atmos and the X-Terms."

All four members of The Apex smiled evily and laughed.
