Chapter 18: Brothers are crazy

Foxe climbed the stairs slowly taking his time as he listened to the crashing and fighting from below him, he already knew Nox and Alex were going to win he had no doubts in his friends and now it was his turn.

"I hear you coming Foxe,"came Colt's voice down the stairs,"You sure made me wait, brother."

Foxe chuckled as he took the final steps to see only Colt shrouded in his Fire Skin, providing the only light in the room. He took step after step towards his brother, the torches in the room lighting with each one.

"Well you made me wait quite a few years to know you were alive,"Foxe hugged his brother,"Fair is fair!"

The two brothers laughed and hugged tightly, after a couple of minutes they released and proceeded to mockingly punch each other in the arm. Foxe was happy to have his brother back the way he remembered him.

"You almost had me with your stupid stoic stance!"Foxe laughed,"I really thought we were going to fight again."

"I'm not going to lie little man I was wanting a rematch of sorts,"Colt hit him hard in the shoulder,"But I figured I'd save that for a different time."

They burst into more laughter briefly, falling silent to the sounds of footsteps from the stairs behind Foxe. Bursting up from the lower floor came Nox and Alex.

"Foxe we are here to help!"yelled Nox

Alex stopped Nox from running forward,"It seems like we aren't needed to help Nox, They aren't fighting."

"No dear Alex, no more fighting between brothers."said Colt,"Wait here Foxe I must talk to your friends."

Colt walked over to Nox and Alex and lowered his voice so Foxe couldnt hear him. He whispered quietly into Alex's ear first hoping she could keep her composure, he then spoke to Nox and placed a hand on his shoulder and nodded.

"Now what could you have said to them?"asked Foxe

"Tsk tsk brother, mustn't spoil the surprises,"Colt winked at him and waved a finger,"I will tell you that I did congratulate them on their fights and that we have a massive one ahead."

Foxe smiled and turned towards the stairs,"Alex, Nox..I need you two to stay here. This is a fight for me and Colt to win."

Alex and Nox stood firm and simply nodded in agreement as Colt pulled his katana from the floor. Colt nodded and joined Foxe climbing the stairs to next rest spot and past that to the final floor.

"Colt, I knew you had turned against us,"said Axel softly,"You do realize that you have chosen a slow death yes?"

Colt answered with a chuckle and lit his blade on fire. Foxe snapped loose his pole and activated the scythe blade covering it in his shadow flames.

"And the brother, Foxe Leonard."said Axel,"The only two survivors of the Leonard and Maynard families. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Axel Blitz and it's my pleasure to end your lives."

Axel stood on his dias and sparked with electricity as he stared down the brothers, his bloodlust and anger burning deeply inside his eyes. Was this the end of Foxe and Colt or of The Apex? Foxe wasn't sure but he knew which he preferred.

"Time to end this Colt!"said Foxe.

"Damn right Foxe!"said Colt,"Let's end him!"
