Chapter 20: One death starts a new life

Unleash, an ability used solely but an X-Term, is the process of fusing an X-Term and their Companion. This ability is the only way to fully unlock an X-Terms full potential, something akin to removing a limiter, and can only be used in a moment of extreme emotional rise.

Foxe reached out for Genovia and cradled her in his arms curling into a ball around her, the shadows crawling up over them and sealing them together in darkness.

"Well seems as though those two have ditched you!"Axel laughed and walked up to Alex and Nox,"I guess that means you two are free play."

Axel grabbed the two by the throat and lifted them up into the air. Alex and Nox squirmed and kicked at Axel beating at his arms in hopes that he'd let go. What was Foxe doing? They were about to die and he was hiding in a ball of shadow!

"Do not avert your eyes!"yelled Axel,"I want to watch your lights snuff out!"

Axel raised then higher and then slammed them down into the floor burying them and shattering stones. Alex and Nox cried out in pain and spitting out blood at the same time. Axel smiled  in pleasure pushing them harder until the floor split open and collapsed dropping them to the rest area.

Alex couldn't take her eyes off the now floating shadow ball as they fell. Nox closed his eyes as they fell and begged for Foxe to come back. Foxe needed to hurry up before this got any worse. Again they were pushed through another floor and then another until they had reached the bottom.

"Back to the start friends! And this time it's game over!"Yelled Axel.

He let go of Alex and Nox standing at his full height and reached his arms above his head a huge lightning bolt coming out of the cloudless sky and striking his hands and morphed into crackling swords.

Before they came crashing down on the two companions Axel stood frozen with a curved blade wreathed in black flames sticking out of his torso. He was slowly lifted from his feet and then disappeared from site, Alex and Nox heard a crash from somewhere and they sat up slowly.

Standing in front of them was...it looked like Foxe but at the same didn't! He stood there with a burning scythe in one hand and Colt's body under his opposite arm. His cloak also appeared to be made of the same fire that was on his blade, he layed down Colt's body and spoke, but it sounded like Foxe and Genovia's voices had mixed.

"You will create no more death Axel Blitz,"said Foxe,"I was coded Nightmare, but when my limiter is removed...I become Death itself. And it is your time."

Axel stood from where he was thrown and screamed angrily, he looked like a feral animal as he swung the two lightning swords at Foxe. Foxe simply pushed away each swipe with his scythe and didn't move an inch from the spot he stood in.

Alex and Nox couldn't help but be stunned and scared of this display of power. They had no idea that Foxe could do this, Nox hadn't even known about this Unleash ability then again he wasn't a combat X-Term so he didn't know much.

"Are you done tickling me?"Foxe repeated Axel's words back to him.

In an arc of shadow power Axel's arms fell to the floor completely removed from his body and he screamed in pain, his screams immediately muffled against Foxe's hand.

"What was it that you said to my brother?"asked Foxe,"Ah yes something about tearing his soul out."

Foxe slowly pulled his away from Axel's face and with it came a barely visible golden silhouette of Axel Blitz. No more sound came from the body and it crumbled to dust before their eyes. Foxe stared at the spirit of Axel for a few seconds before throwing it to ground where it sank and disappeared.

"To hell with you Axel,"Foxe turned to Colt's body and knelt,"As for Colt Maynard, you shall have a second chance at life. Use it well."

Foxe slid his scythe through the air and a massive swirling black vortex appeared, Foxe reached into it and drew out another ghostly figure this time it took the form of Colt only it seemed to be smiling.

Foxe slammed the ghostly figure into Colt's body shattering the ice that had sealed the wound which now sealed itself as if it had never been. Colt's body drew breath and as it did Foxe's she'd itself of the frightening image of Death Incranate and returned to normal and he collapsed beside his brother falling unconscious.

"FOOXE!"yelled Alex.
