I didn't expect to get engaged this soon. But I don't think I would've found a better bride.
"Aajushi you go first!"
She is not even looking at me. She has just extended her ring finger.
"Wait!", shouts Eun Mi.
"What is it now!?", whines Seon Ra in frustration.
"Here you go!", says Eun Mi handing Seon Ra a white lacey cloth which I assume is supposed to be the veil.
"Why don't we also get a priest!?", she groans in frustration but eventually puts on the veil.
She's already wearing a white top, only if the jeans were white too instead of denim it could've passed for a bridal attire.
"Proceed now!", shouts an excited Ye Ji.
I move closer to her and take her left hand and place it on my chest so she can feel my rapid heartbeats. She finally looks at me and gives me the 'what are you doing?' look and I just smile widely in return. My smile somehow hurts her because all I can see when I look into her eyes is pain.
"Come on now!", shouts Eun Mi helping us both come back to reality.
Her hand is clutching my shirt so tightly that it takes some force to lift her left hand from my chest. I hold her hand gently in mine and spend a moment too long savoring the feeling of holding her hand again. As soon as I put the ring on her finger, she starts laughing out loud.
"What's wrong?", I ask dumbfounded.
"You... switched the rings.", she says laughing as I realize how big the ring I put actually is. I guess I got too lost in the moment.
All the children start laughing with her. Yup sure why not. I've become the laughing stock.
"Fine, fine. I'll put the right one on.", I say as I replace the ring. She just won't stop laughing.
"Make sure that this doesn't happen on your actual wedding. Your wife might actually get upset.", she says still laughing.
"I don't think you would get upset.", I say looking into her eyes deeply.
"What?", she asks trying to stop laughing.
"My future wife... she won't get upset. She'd be too busy laughing like an idiot because she would be you.", I say handing her my ring finger.
"That's why they say young love is stupid.", she says placing the ring quickly while shaking her head and laughing at my statement.
"But I'm serious... I won't marry unless you're the one who is my bride. I would rather die alone.", I say with conviction.
