Josh's POV
Luckily because I made it home before 4 o'clock, my parents weren't home yet. They always went out on a Friday at 2 for lunch - a shitty attempt to save a marriage that was too far gone. That gave me plenty of time to pack my things. I hid my bags in my wardrobe out of sight. I'd taken just clothes, my laptop, chargers, and anything sentimental. All of those things were in drawers or boxes, so you really couldn't tell I'd packed up.
I climbed out of my bedroom window and went to meet Simon and his dad round the corner in his car at 3:50.
"All packed?" Daniel asked.
"Yeah, doesn't even look like I have so if they check my room I'm safe. Once I see their car go by I'll give it five and then we'll head in" I told him.
"I'm so glad you got to leave today" Simon smiled.
"Me too, I'm so excited to live with you guys. Just nervous to get through this part" I admitted.
"So what's plan A?" He asked.
"We go in there, I tell them we're dating. Fingers crossed they'll straight up kick me out, and then I'll head to my room, you'll leave, I'll pass you the bags out of my bedroom window, I'll leave through my front door and help you bring them to the car" I said.
My parents car went past and I felt my nerves growing. We gave it a couple of minutes before Simon and I walked up towards my house.
We headed inside and to the living room where just my mum was. I guess my dad didn't come home. They probably fought at lunch. Still that worked out, my mum was the hotheaded one.
"Hey mum, I brought Simon back with me" I said, trying to act like this wasn't planned.
"Okay well... As long as he's just your friend. And at least he's dressed a little more respectably this time" she sneered.
Simon was just wearing joggers and a hoodie, it was weird seeing him in anything other than feminine clothing.
"Actually... He's not just my friend anymore" I said, taking his hand in mine. I looked at him, seeing the rose tint to his cheeks and internally laughing.
"Joshua, I thought we were clear on this. No boyfriends" she said firmly.
"Well I'm 18, I can make my own choices, and I love him" I told her. I didn't have to look to know Simon would be blushing.
"Just... Go somewhere with him, stop holding hands. Do what you want but not in this house" she sighed.
"Are you kicking me out?" I tried my hardest to sound upset.
"No, I just don't want to see it, go to his house or something, or to your room, but leave that door open"
Fuck. Plan B it was I guess.
I dragged Simon into my room.
"Now Si, you're not gonna like this, but it's a good plan. Don't worry, you don't have to be here for it. You're gonna leave through the window and take my bags to the car, I'll deal with the rest. Trust me, she'll kick me out after this" I grinned.
"Josh, what the fuck are you planning?" He groaned.
"If I tell you you'll get embarrassed, just trust me okay? I'll tell you later, but I promise it'll work" I assured him.
He nodded, climbing through my window and waiting as I passed the bags to him. He began running them to the car. Simon was quite strong so he managed it in two trips.
I closed the window and locked my bedroom door.
I laughed to myself as I found a video of two men having sex, playing it loudly enough that the volume could be heard in the living room. I fought laughing out loud as I stood next to my bed, hitting the headboard into the wall.
"Joshua! I said door open! Don't you fucking dare do that with another man in my house!" She started yelling and I heard her footsteps towards the door. I quickly paused the video and opened the window loudly.
"Simon climb out!" I said loudly before slamming the window shut.
She started banging on the door.
I took a deep breath before unlocking it and opening it.
"Joshua, you disgust me, get out of my house right now, and don't you dare come back" she hissed, slapping me hard.
I tried to force that broken look I used to wear in this house as I left through the front door, walking to the car. Immediately the expression dropped and I grinned to myself. I was finally leaving.
