I was hoping it wouldn't be awkward later that evening when Josh and I headed down for dinner.
Thankfully it wasn't too bad because mainly it was my parents wanting to talk to him and get to know him, so I was able to just keep my head down and eat for the time being.
We had lasagne and garlic bread. Just a store bought lasagne - an easy meal to make given our hectic afternoon moving Josh in.
"Thanks, this looks amazing" Josh smiled as my mum set the plate down in front of him.
"You're still talking to us like you're our guest" she laughed "still, you have wonderful manners"
I snorted at that comment.
"Oi" he scowled.
"You're polite yeah... It's just our first ever conversation was an argument, which resulted in me hitting you" I snickered.
"And what was our second conversation? Oh yeah, me asking to talk it out with you maturely and going through our differences" he grinned.
"You dragged me into the toilets, I thought you were gonna beat me up" I deadpanned.
"But I didn't" he said pointedly.
"You scare me" I sighed.
"I know" he snickered. I tried not to think about what he was hinting about.
"You two seem to have made friends in an interesting way" my mum laughed.
"Well we were just civil at that point, we became friends after Josh spoke to one of my bullies for me" I told her.
"Spoke to" he laughed.
"Well, fought" I corrected myself.
"Fought" he laughed again.
"Tried to fight and got beat up" I corrected myself once more.
"That's why my lip is dodgy, that wasn't my parents. Still, it was worth it" he smiled at me.
My parents gave each other a knowing look.
"I hope he doesn't start on you now though" I frowned at Josh.
"I doubt he will, now he knows I've at least got the guts to hit him" he shrugged.
"True" I nodded.
"So Josh, not to try change the subject but wanna tell us a bit about yourself?" My dad asked him.
"I don't really have many hobbies because I never had much free time, but I've always loved music" he said.
"What kind?" My mum asked curiously.
"Mainly stuff like Linkin Park, Three Days Grace. Recently I've been getting into Of Mice and Men, and Motionless in White" he told them.
"Wait, no way" I grinned.
"You listen to them too?" He asked in suprise.
"They're Simon's favourite bands" my dad laughed.
"I did not picture you being a metalhead, sorry to steretype" he said.
"I'll show you my playlist when we go upstairs later, we'll chill in my room" I said.
"So who's your favourite band right now?" He asked eagerly.
"Probably Mushroomhead" I told him.
"What's the heaviest band you listen to?" He questioned.
"Without a doubt Lorna Shore, but I really got to be in the mood for them"
"I'm falling in love right now" he shook his head, continuing to eat his food.
I looked up at my mum who was grinning at me, I didn't have to ask to know I was blushing.
"I can't actually tell if you two are dating or not, please clear this up" my mum laughed.
"We're not" I said quickly, hoping to beat Josh to an answer before he could take the chance to make another flirtatious comment.
