Homophobia warning
Josh walked to school with me and Ethan since he now lived with me. I loved that all three of us could hang out and travel together. I wanted Josh and Ethan to be close too since Ethan was my best friend and Josh was my unofficial boyfriend.
Still, my good mood didn't last long when I got to PE. Getting changed in the changing rooms had always been an anxiety for me because of the clothes I wore, it just felt uncomfortable. It was made worse as soon as Joe Weller - another guy in my class - saw the marks Josh had left on my collarbone.
"Let me guess, your boyfriend did that?" He snickered.
I chose to ignore him and put my uniform on.
"Logan said Josh hit him on your behalf, so would I be right to assume you two are screwing?" He asked, a disgusted sneer on his face.
"Hey! Answer me when I'm talking to you" he grabbed the front of my shirt.
"Just leave me alone Joe" I said, desperation slipping into my tone.
"No, I need to know if you're screwing another guy, because if you are then I don't want you changing in here with the rest of us" he spat.
"Just stop, I wouldn't try and make anyone uncomfortable" I tried to wiggle out of his grip.
"Joe, I'd stop. If Josh actually is his boyfriend he'll go fucking crazy" Elliott warned him.
"I'm not scared of him" Joe snapped, but he let go of me and stormed out. Immediately I texted Josh.
Simon: Joe won't leave me alone in PE idk what to do
Josh: Where are you now??
Simon: Still in the changing rooms
Josh: Stay there x
Josh: Where's he?Simon: Field I think, please don't get into an argument with him, I don't want you to get hurt again
Josh: Don't worry I'll sort this, and I won't get hurt xx
Josh: What was he doing? XxSimon: Making fun of us xx
Not even a minute later Josh came into the changing room, luckily everybody else was on the field by now.
"Get changed, we'll go home after this" he said.
"Okay" I nodded, voice quiet. I got changed as quickly as I could.
I thought we'd be leaving the school, but Josh dragged us both out onto the field where everyone from my class was waiting for the coach.
It fell silently instantly as we both approached. My nerves were shot with anticipation of what Josh was going to do.
"Right, I know you think that two guys dating is the best punchline in the world, but neither of our sexualities are jokes. They're a part of who we are. I'd say sorry if we make you uncomfortable, but I'm not sorry" Josh said loudly to everyone "I'm not sorry for being myself and neither is he, and if Simon and I are dating then that's nobody's problem"
"So you're actually dating?" Joe grinned.
I looked at Josh, waiting for his answer. I knew we weren't really official yet.
"Of course we are, so think before you say shit to Simon. If you say something to him, remember you're saying it to me. And if anyone lays a fucking hand on him, I promise you, I'll beat the shit out of you and you'll wish I just killed you instead" he spat at him.
"I just don't wanna get changed in front of a gay guy" Joe shouted back.
"You think Simon's got his eyes on you? Not a fucking chance" Josh laughed, tone dripping with disgust. I cracked a smile at that one.
Nobody said another word and so Josh and I left. He was satisifed he'd gotten the point across.
I dragged him behind the trees at the entrance of the school.
"We're dating?" I asked, smiling.
"Simon I might not be in love with you yet, we might have gotten together extremely quickly, but I care about you, and I have love for you. I'm sick of worrying if we're taking this too fast, I just want you to be mine" he whispered, stroking my cheek.
"So we're together now? Officially?" I beamed.
"Of course we are, you cute, adorable human" he laughed, kissing me passionately.
