With a groan, you stand in front of the mirror in your room, tugging at the uniform, trying to pull it down. You can't stand this uniform. Y0u've tried on the larger sizes, but they were too big on you, so you're stuck with the smaller one, which is kind of tight, and the skirt is rather short and scratchy.
"Will you hurry up in there?" Your brother shouts impatiently, knocking on your door. "Okay! Give me a second!"
You yell back, before slipping on the grey overcoat to the uniform and buttoning it up. You pick up the tie, and glance at it, trying to figure it out. You've never been good at putting on stuff like this, and you always end up getting confused.
But you don't want your brother to make fun of you for not knowing how to tie a tie, so, you try to put it on yourself. After a few moments of trying to slip it on, you grow frustrated, muttering curses at the tie and gripping it tightly.
There's a louder bang at the door, making you stop and walk over to it, frowning. "Would you stop and give me one god damn second to figure this out?!"
You snap angrily, making him pause and see the tie in your hand. The older boy snatches it from you, and just before you can yell at him, he interrupts you. "Here give it to me."
He quickly ties it around your neck with ease, managing to finish in the span of a minute or so. "All you had to do was ask, idiot. Now come on, let's go eat breakfast."
You follow your brother out to the kitchen, grabbing some cereal, pouring it into the bowl, and pouring some milk along with it, accidentally spilling some onto the table.
"Can you not be such a damn slob? I'm always the one that has to clean up your mess after you're done." He growls, grabbing a napkin and wiping down the little spill. He's always been a neat freak. He gets it from his dad.
"Sorry, Jeez." You mumble curses under your breath, before beginning to shovel spoonfuls of cereal into your mouth. You're starving and nervous, which means you eat faster than usual, scarfing the food down.
Your brother notices this, shaking his head and lifting a coffee mug to his lips, taking a sip. "Slow down, you're going to choke. What's wrong?"
"Nothing." You lie, and your brother cocks an eyebrow. "I'm just nervous. I mean, I don't even know anyone there, and all of them are probably going to be rich, smart ass a-holes who look down on me as some stupid American girl."
If you're being honest, you have no idea how you got into UA. It's one of the most prestigious schools in Japan, with academics, and athletics. Now, you're not the smartest, but you do work hard and get good grades, so you managed to get an academic scholarship, and after passing the exams, you got in.
"You always do this. You always assume you're not going to like someone, or someone's not going to like you before you even know them. What about that Kirishima kid you told me about? He's nice, right?"
You nodded, reminiscing on your drive back from the tour when you told your brother all about him. He is an interesting character, after all. Spiky red hair, sharp teeth, and a huge, hulking athletic form. If he wasn't so nice to you, you'd probably be very intimidated.
"But he has to be nice to me. It's not like he can just give me a tour and be a dick the whole time. We're probably not going to even talk to each other." You cross your arms, making your brother roll his eyes.
"Just give it a try, okay? I'm sure you'll like it. And if you're miserable and absolutely hate it, then you'll just go to another school, okay? But I doubt it." He tells you.
You let out a long sigh. "Fine."

As you walk down the hallway, you feel all eyes on you, staring at you. It seems like everyone knows you're a new transfer student. But how did they find out so fast? You avoid eye contact, looking down at the slip of paper that has your schedule in hand, and back up at the hallways, trying to find your class once again.
"Kirishima said it was over here, but I don't see it. Maybe I'm in the wrong hallway." You mumble under your breath, scratching the back of your head. You want to ask someone for help, but you feel like they would judge you.
This is so embarrassing. You think to yourself, feeling humiliating and shame swirling around in your gut. You just got a tour, and you're still getting lost.
"You alright there, (y/n)?" You hear a familiar chipper voice call, looking up and seeing Kirishima.
"Yeah, I'm just a little lost, heh. I know you said it was down this way, but I can't find the class." You admit, fidgeting slightly.
"Oh, it should be back around here. Follow me." He turns around, and you trail behind him. He leads you over to the classroom, stopping by the doorway when you reach it. "I know the first day's always very confusing, so if you need help, don't hesitate to text or call."
Thanking him, you turn back to the classroom, taking a deep breath and stepping inside.
--
The day passes by slowly, and eventually, you reach the last period. You feel exhausted, and you just want the day to be over with. Walking through the doorway, you spot Kirishima, who grins at you, patting the seat next to him.
You smile back, walking over and sitting down. "Hey, how's it going? I didn't see you at lunch."
"I'm okay." You grow quiet, unsure how to answer his second comment. If you're being honest, it's because you don't want to seem clingy. You've been following him around from class to class, and you can see how popular he is, he has plenty of people to hang out with, so why would he want to hang out with you?
"I just didn't want to seem too attached. I know it would be kinda embarrassing having some random transfer student following you around all day." You confess, looking around the class, and finding yourself unable to keep eye contact with him
"Hey, I wanna hang out with you. You seem like a really cool person and I want to get to know you more. So don't worry about being too attached okay?" You look into his eyes, seeing that he's being sincere. A small smile crosses your lips and you nod.
Before you two can continue the conversation, the teacher walks in, holding a folder in hand, her eyes immediately setting on you. "You must be the transfer student. We have assigned seats in this class, and you'll be sitting two desks over, with Kaminari."
She motions to the blonde boy who's already sitting at the desk. He flashed you a big grin, and after you say your goodbyes to Kirishima, you join him.
"You must be the new girl. That's cool. My name's Denki Kaminari. It's a pleasure to meet ya." He casually introduces himself, leaning back in his chair.
"I'm (y/n) (l/n). It's nice to meet you too." You smile back. "You know, you're really cute. Wanna go ou- oh shit-"
Before he can finish his sentence, he leans too far back in his chair, almost falling over, but you manage to catch it, pulling his chair back. You can't help but giggle to yourself. This guy's a major dork.
"Mm, I'm more of a friends first type of gal. How about we try that instead and we'll see what happens." You wink at him with a grin.
Maybe the people here aren't so bad after all.
You don't even notice Kirishima watching you two, letting out a small breath of relief after hearing you say that. He doesn't know why, but the idea of seeing you dating Kaminari makes something pang in his chest. Something dark and angry. So he feels much better after you say that.
And deep down he knows that these feelings are only the beginning.
