"Hi." You greet Kirishima with a small smile, the moment you see him. He smiles back. "Hi."
"So, when do you want to talk?" You ask, and things have never been this awkward between you two before. Even when he's being overly sappy with Mina, you can tease him about it. But right now, you have no idea what to say to him.
"How about before lunch? We could meet out in the hallway and talk there and then grab something to eat." He offers.
You shrug in response. "That sounds good. I'll talk to you then, I guess."
And with that, you walk back over to your desk, waiting for class to begin. You try to focus on class, but all you can think about is Kirishima, worrying about him instead.
Did you go too far? Did you mess things up with Mina? Does he not like you anymore? Does he not want to be friends?
Quit being so dramatic. You're freaking out over nothing. And if push comes to shove and you guys aren't friends anymore, you'll deal with it. You can get over it and make new friends, it's not like you absolutely need Kirishima or anything.
You think to yourself, trying to calm down, and focus on what the teacher is saying, and you do, despite the nagging feeling of dread weighing down your stomach.
--
It's not long until lunch, and the next thing you know, you and Kirishima are walking down the hallway together, not saying a word to each other. You're both stuck playing that game where you're glancing at him, and looking away when he catches you, and he does the same.
"Here seems like a good spot," Kirishima tells you, when he reaches a more quiet area in the hallway, with some open benches.
The two of you sit down on opposite sides, and Kirishima takes a moment to scoot closer to you, leaving a small gap of space between you two.
"I just wanted to start by saying I'm sorry for not telling you anything. I was basically ghosting you and it was stupid and wrong, and I'm sorry for hurting you. Mina and I have been going through a bit of a rough patch, and I've been way too focused on that." Kirishima explains.
"Really? Because you two seemed just fine when we were at the club." You remark. He sighs, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, that was...stupid. Was it that bad?"
You nod and giggle, making him sigh, his cheeks warm with embarrassment. "You guys aren't fighting because of me or anything right? I don't want to cause a rift, and if you want me to give you some space-"
"What? No no no. It's not your fault. It's just... long-distance relationships are hard." He reassures you, even though he knows that he's only partially telling the truth.
Yeah, long-distance relationships are hard, and things have been hard with him and Mina, but he didn't care about all the problems and troubles, he looked past them and just focused on his love for Mina. And then he met you, and everything changed.
"So, are we cool?" He asks. "Yeah, we're cool."
"Can I give you an apology hug?" He offers, and you grin at him. "As long as you promise not to ghost me afterward."
"I promise." He chuckles, gently wrapping his big arms around you. You hug him back, resting your head on his chest. It feels so good to have his arms around you, and yours around him. So right.
He rests his head near yours, taking in your scent and your presence, basking in the smell of your shampoo, and your perfume, enjoying the feeling of your body pressed against his.
After a few moments, you let him go, pulling away. It's a good thing you pulled away when you did, otherwise, you would've noticed the way his body is reacting to you.
He gets to his feet, clearing his throat and adjusting his pants when you're not looking, to hide the growing tent that's forming. "Uhm, so, do you want to join the others?"
"Sure." And with that, the two of you walked over to the cafeteria. He opens the door for you, letting you inside.
"Thanks. And you know, it's a good thing you apologized when you did, otherwise, my brother would've killed you." You tease, as you both enter.
Your brother. Kirishima almost forgot about him. Bakugo told him he doesn't like him. He also said that your brother's too overprotective and close to you, something both boys want to be. But they want to be even closer. They want you as theirs, and theirs only.
The two of you join the table where Bakugo, Sero, Jirou, and Kaminari are already sitting, your lunches in hand. You greet the others, making some conversation with them, before turning back to Kirishima.
"I know it's none of my business, but you and your brother look nothing alike. I was just wondering, does he look like one parent or-"
"Oh, no. We're not related. He's my stepbrother. I just prefer to call him my actual brother, because I feel like we're closer than that." You confess.
"What are you doing, stepbro?" Kaminari jokes, interrupting your conversation.
Everyone's staring at him, and he's the only one laughing at his shitty joke. You glare at him, waiting until he's finished. After a moment or two, his laughter dies down, when he realizes no one's laughing with him.
"Dude," Sero murmurs, making a motion to get him to shut up. "That wasn't funny."
Jirou adds, and he looks over at you for help, only to realize that you're glaring at him. "She's right. It wasn't fucking funny. God, you're such an ass sometimes."
Angrily, you get to your feet, grabbing your tray and storming out of the cafeteria. The others call after you, but you don't wave them off, clearly wanting to be alone.
"The hell's wrong with you, you moron?" Bakugo smacks the back of his head, and the others scold him.
Kirishima joined in, glad that you're not mad at him anymore, rather mad at Kaminari instead. Who knows, maybe you'll be done with him because of what he said. You do seem really mad, after all.
He can't help the excitement he feels at that. Maybe you'll finally focus on the two who care about you the most. The two you need the most in your life. Him and Bakugo.
