A Funeral

Alice
Mini asked to attend Raymond Steele's funeral and showed us the information on it. We all gent in then car dressed nicely for the funeral. Mini is wearing a Purple Heart, a Medal Of Valor and a Snipers medal plus an American flag pin. We meet an attorney Arthur Dugan and he says that he is the executer of mr Steele's estate and he needs to talk to Mini Mouse privately at his office soon. Today if possible.
Roger
We introduce ourselves and I ask him what this is about and he says that Raymond Steele had no family except for Mini Mouse and he left her something. He wants to meet with her without us present, I don't know him and she has never met him, but Ray said he could be trusted with their lives. Right now we need to know what is going on.
Mini
Ray trusted him so I trust him. We all go to the meeting and I am told the fact that he has all my information in a private chat without the Albertsons and he is very aware of my life before I ran away and he will protect my identity until I choose to make it known who I am and he will never let anyone know what he knows because of his oat to protect client privilege. He then shows me everything I have inherited and how I will get it. Since I am 14 and can't legally sign anything. Mr Dugan explains things to me and then he brings in my foster parents and tells them that at this point my identity as the heir of Raymond Steele I will have at least one covert security on me at all times.

Is that necessary?

Yes it is very important she is kept safe, there are people wanting her dead. Right now we can assure her safety and privacy. Mrs Albertsons asked if they should be worried for their own safety as well? He thought well I don't think they would hurt anyone but Mini, but they could be dangerous to you. I can hire security for all four of you if you wish.

I think that would be a good idea, for now. Mini was still upset at seeing her friend dead in his casket. They handed her the flag and she cried harder at the grave. We had flowers there for him, but what really surprised us were the number of people who attended the funeral. Different people came up and gave her their condolences. I had no idea how many homeless people and soldiers with their wives and children were in attendance. Each gave her a phone number and hugged her and said a few things about him. Some of the companies staff came over to her, we had to finally have security remove three upper management people after they insisted she sign over to them the entire estate after all she wasn't his blood kin and they had worked hard and deserved to have his estate. I was very proud when she came back with I happen to know that all of you were compensated very generously for your contributions to the company. So if you still want to keep your jobs don't test me.
Mini
I can't believe those people and I think I want them gone for good. I talk to Arthur Dugan and he tells me they are under contract and right now we don't have a lot of time on their contracts and we have been limiting their activities in the company.
Arthur
We can start looking for their replacements now. They have six months and they think bullying you will help. Do you want to interview anyone?
Mini
I think my foster father would do a great job. I want to go over everything and check somethings regarding the company and all the assets. Raymond would have wanted me to hit the ground running on this and quickly.
Arthur
That's the Mini he told me about the fighter for what's right and not be afraid. Watch your back though. How are your computer skills?
Mini
I know my way around but Barney Miller my foster brother knows a lot more than anyone I know. We can get him involved if need be.
Arthur we can approach you mr Albertsons and Mrs Albertsons and see what we can come up with.
Roger Albertsons
I was made an offer of a very lucrative job at the Steele company. I had to get my game up to standards and quickly. I hired a few staff members to assist me, people I trusted and had been my staff at our recently closed company. This was a true blessing and it was something I could make a lot more money at. Even Alice was hired to help out while Mini and Barney was at school. We worked out a contract of four years for everyone. We knew we would be going into a hostile environment. But we knew it was for Mini and Raymond Steele to save the company and the Steele estate. We also moved into his nice home on the sound because our lease was up on our home.

I keep reminding myself that this is temporary about Roger and his job and suddenly at a funeral of a total stranger we are negotiating a contract to work for our foster daughter. Now we are living in her friends home, well her home now. The staff don't know which end is up by this time. The first month we were on staff a lot of grumbling went on about the death of Raymond Steele and his new heir. The news of his death finally caught to the actual changes and we are over all the other company's top management group. They weren't thrilled and tried to overturn his will. It failed and it made for very bad feelings by all who were hired. Soon we were looking at getting rid of the men who bullied me at the funeral. The reasons were well documented, they tried to sell off parts of the company and some of the private property that was mine. The last straw was when they tried to cripple my position in the company along with my ownership of it. The kicker is that during all of this Elena Lincoln tried a take over. We never allow people to see Mini or Barney, but we do have them watching in the other room. Both recognized her as their first caseworker. We let her present her offer which was a horrible offer and told her we were passing on it. What she didn't know is that we had bought up a portion of her company. Barney had been watching her after certain things came to light about what she was suspected of doing to some of her wards.
