"Oh."

Yeah. Oh. That was Dan's reaction when I told him who was in front of us. Soobin and Beomgyu pulled down their masks a bit and bowed to us. I bowed to them, Dan followed, awkwardly. We entered the bakery and I looked for a pastry for Ruby. Sweets always cheered her up. YG assigned our group a specific personality of being a badass, but in reality, we all were humans, and needed a break. This was one of those days.

"Hurry up," Dan muttered. "We got to get out before someone spots you in the same place as TXT."

I sighed. No surprise there. "The line is long. Have a bit patience, besides you're here with me. It won't turn into a scandal," I told him, but he still looked anxious. Someone was concerned about his job.

I chose chocolate pastry and asked the man behind the counter to pack it up for me. In the meantime, we both stood back, and waited. "You're a good leader." Dan patted my shoulder.

"Thanks Mr manager." I winked, and shifted my gaze to the person behind him. Beomgyu. He and Soobin were also waiting for their orders I guess. My cheeks colored, and I lowered my cap.

Dan got another call, and excused himself. Beomgyu was a few feet away, beside me, and again my heart started that uneven rhythm. It was funny how conscious I was becoming of his presence. I hung my head and saw Beomgyu tapping his foot fast against the floor. I resisted the urge to laugh.

I looked up at the ceiling and felt grateful for the mask I was wearing. Because I was grinning ear to ear. This thrill was something else. The tapping of his foot intensified and I started tapping my foot too. Beomgyu stopped, realising my gesture, and I heard him clear his throat as he retreated his feet back.

Soobin was on the counter, talking to the owner, so I took the lead. "Are you nervous, Sunbae?" I muttered.

Beomgyu lowered his head, I followed, and then we both sneaked a glance at each other before turning away. His eyes. He was smiling. I could tell just by looking into those eyes that Beomgyu was enjoying this interaction. If someone else saw us from a distance, they would think we were behaving awkward, but this was our language of whatever it was between us.

"Don't be absurd, hoobae. I'm not nervous." His voice was clear but just above whisper.

I was about to reply when Dan came back and stood beside me. He complained about the line and also told me that the company ceo had arranged a meeting with me and other YG group leaders this upcoming weekend. My phone buzzed, and I broke into a wide grin when saw the caller ID.

"Miyoung!" I received her video call. It was a relief to know that she wasn't mad at me. Like she knew I had nothing going on with Soobin, but still I didn't want to upset her ever. Not even with meaningless assumptions or misunderstandings.

"Ae-Cha. Goodness, you were a fire." Her eyes were wide open. "I just saw your performance from today. What did you even eat for breakfast?" she joked, but then frowned. "Wait, are you out?"

My lips parted to reply when Soobin came to me. "Ae-Cha, this is for you." He gave me a strawberry ice cream and handed my manager a box too. "Please enjoy. It's my treat."

"Sunbae, why would you-" I was baffled, phone call long forgotten.

"Soobin-ssi, you didn't have to." Manager bowed to him politely.

I heard a beep and knew that Miyoung had hung up on me. Shit. She must've thought that I was out with Soobin. I would have to talk to Miyoung face to face. Gosh what an awful timing. Looked like fate wasn't in my favor. Or better yet Soobin needed to let me go and ignore my existence for the rest of his life.
