Barry walked into the West house, ready for the annual gala they throw at Star Labs. He promised Iris as a favour that he would go with her and help her get some quotes from different lab owners about various things. Barry was the opposite of excited.  he was going to have to see some one he hasn't seen in a while. Caitlin Snow. She had to be there, there is no way she would miss it. Barry got ready in a suit and tie and then went to go pick up Iris. He knocked her door and Joe answered. 

"Hey Barry!" He cheered

"Hey Joe" Barry tried to say in the same tone but failed "Is Iris ready yet?" He asked hoping that he could get this over with as fast as possible.

"No she's not but you can wait inside while she's getting ready" Joe said opening the door more for Barry as he walked in the house. "Wow this must be a fancy event if it has you dressed in a suit" Joe said and Barry just took a seat on the couch ignoring the comment. "Where are you going anyway?" his adoptive father asked

"It's a Star Labs charity gala thing" Barry said and knew it was a instant mistake

"Where your ex-girlfriend works" Joe said and Barry nodded then putting his face in his hands

"You still love her?" Joe asked

"So much" Barry said

"Then tell her" Joe said

"But she..." Barry was about to argue when Joe interrupted him

"I know she wouldn't let you talk to her and you don't know what you did wrong" Joe said and Barry nodded again sighing. "Bar, we know how much you loved her and we did to but if you won't fight for her then you have to let her go."

"Hey dad, hey Barry, you ready?" Iris asked and Barry sat up and was going to think about what Joe was saying.

"Wow you looked great" Barry said to Iris

"Yeah, I could say the same to you" Iris said

"Shall we go?" Barry asked and Iris nodded and walked outside

"Have fun" Joe said

"Bye dad" Iris said and went toward the car

"Bye Joe" Barry said and closed the door. Iris had the radio playing and was going through the different questions she could ask the scientist there. Barry was thinking about Caitlin, should he let go or should he fight for her, for them, one last time. 

"Hey Barry" Iris said and Barry then stopped thinking about his feelings for his ex. "I know it might be hard for you seeing Caitlin there today. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me today." 

"Of course, what else am I here for?" Barry said and smiled at Iris and they both went back to what they were doing before. Barry pulled up at Star labs and the gala had already started. You could see multiple people in small clumps and waited going around with champagne for the others there. Barry continued further to parking and was thankful that they found a spot. He took Iris' arm and they walked in to see a very fancy gala. 

"This must be so expensive" Iris said and Barry forgot how full on Harrison Wells likes to go full out when he has these types of events. "I'm going to go get a drink" Iris insisted

"I'll come" Barry said and they both headed towards the open bar. While Iris ordered drinks for both of them Barry looked around and saw her. She was dancing with her best friend Cisco. He just saw her face before his view was blocked by another pair dancing. Gosh she looked so happy. Is all Barry could think, he was just going to work or sitting on his couch everyday be she seemed like she was thriving. He must have been staring too long because she definitely noticed him. Crap. It caught her a lot by surprised. I saw her step away from Cisco as a single tear fell down her face and she ran away. Cisco was confused and then saw me and his face filled with anger. Cisco was storming my way and it looked he was going to punch me in the face. He had to keep his emotions in check because he would make a bad impression around his colleagues in his place of work.
