"Exhilirating!"I smiled as the Subway moved. I had to admit, I had never been on a Subway before. Jade and I were always too busy to leave Camp. Atticus seemed happy, too, like a Golden-Retriever puppy going on a walk. "You guys need to get out more."Erik muttered. "Haven't you only been on two quests?"Jade raised an eyebrow.
"Uhhh... yeah."Erik was sweating.
"Hmph. You're a bad liar. Sneaking out shouldn't be hard for someone of your size."Jade hissed. "HEY! He's taller than me!"Atticus frowned. "Exactly. Two trickster birds of a feather."Jade squinted. Valentina looked over to me as if to say, "Signifigant other's, amIright?"
And she was right. Jade was a hassle. Jade was an old fighting PitBull that was being rehabilitated. (Not literally, though... now that I think about... that would be so cool.) And Erik... well... I didn't have an opinion on him. His Adam's Apple kept it's grey scar. He was gaining his strength back... I guess he was... also a Pit-Bull. Atticus, on the other hand... well... I didn't have much to say about him. Well... there was...
The Subway suddenly came to a HALT! The tracks made a deafeaning screeching noise as we stopped. Like- SCCRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-BAM!
Something had landed on the roof, still... Edie didn't wake up next to me, she was curled up in a ball.
"Not good..."Atticus muttered as the lights when off. "No. Not at all..."Valentina nocked an arrow in her bow. I gripped onto my spear, which Atticus stayed far away from. The people on the train looked around in confusion. CLANK! CLANK! BAM! CLANK! Whatever was on the roof was walking on...it seemed like two feet.
"Person?"I asked.
"Nah. Too big."Erik said.
"Too big..."I muttered. My brain was searching it's neat filing cabinets to remember humanoid Demons/Angels. I knew what was happening when the demon crashed through the Subway train's roof. Before I could tell everyone to DUCK! The Arrow Demon shot an Arrow into my arm. What kind... I couldn't tell.
"Beatriz!"Jade yelled. Another one hit me. The arrow demon was goblin-looking, it was bald, had four arms...and stuff. Jeez... was I seeing doubles or were there two? Now there were three... and four. They all busted from the ceiling. Which seemed... funny to me. I laughed like a mad-man. What was this arrow doing to me? No... this wasn't blood-loss. These were... Chaos Arrows! Wow! Cool! Jade grabbed onto me.
I continued laughing. I couldn't stop. Was everyone being massacered or had my vision turned red? I dropped my spear, "BAHAHAHAHAHA!"I yelled. "Not the time!"Atticus replied.
He was hit with an arrow I regonized on the spot, and Abyssal Arrow. Yay! Gold star for me! "AGH! I CAN'T SEE!"He gripped onto his sword. I felt like I switched instantly as I was hit with another arrow. Another Chaos arrow. Did Valentia shoot it at me? She was turning against me! And I thought we were friends! No. Trust no one! I couldn't trust anyone!
I pushed myself away from Jade. "ARE YOU PLOTTING AGAINST ME?"I yelled. "WHO? WHAT?"Atticus looked around, his eyes setting their gaze on no particular place. "AND YOU!"I pointed at him, "YOU'RE FAKING BLINDNESS SO YOU CAN STAB ME IN THE BACK! HAVE YOU TURNED MY DEAR JADE AGAINST ME?!"I stepped back, the words I was speaking flowed from my mouth like music flowering from an intstrument. The arrow demons shrieked in laughter, shooting more arrows. Valentina was hit with one, she made a gargling noise and fell to the floor, gasping for air. Another one hit Erik, he fell down and screamed in pain as more hit him.
We were all a mess. Everyone was untrustworthy! They all deserved to be killed first! Not me! I trusted them! They betrayed me, right? They would. Where was... Jade? Were they being brainwashed to plot against me? Oh no! Was the world just a simple hallucination? A simulation, perhaps? "HEY! LAY OFF MY GIRLFRIEND! AND... OTHERS!"Jade yelled, grabbing onto an Arrow-demon. They sunk their new demon claws into it's green, beefy neck, it turned to dust. "Who's next?!"Jade ran towards another faster than it could nock an arrow in it's bow, and they made it disinigrate, too. I knew the power of Lucifer flowed through them.
Jade did the same to the other Arrow-demons, leaving one. They pinned it down.
"Who put you up to this?"Jade sunk their new claws into it's arms. "A-Angels. Th-they- promised us Arrows."The demon grinned. "Hmph. That's too bad, you won't be getting them."Jade turned the last demon to ash.
Valentina stood up, Atticus's eyes went back into focus, I noticed how stupid I was being, and Erik got up with a groaning noise. The mortals had already evacuated.
"So."Jade smirked. "I think I'm- I'm gonna-"Erik didn't finish, he fell face-first into a pile of demon-ash. Yuck. Valentina sighed, pulling him up like this was a daily occurance. "I think we should... rest, too. So we can... gain info on Ezra?"Valentina gave a side-smirk, to see if her simple ploy to sleep worked.
"N-"Jade was cut off.
"I allow it, as quest-leader."Atticus grinned. Jade grumbled a curse I wont repeat, and we got off the Subway. Mortals were running around, trying to see if they could do anything. We ended up in a park, where Valentina, Erik, Edie, and Atticus fell asleep almost instantly. For me... I just... couldn't. We bandaged eachothers wounds, Jade and I, and then bandaged the sleeping demi-demon's wounds.
"Hard work."I muttered. "Yes... but being outside feels fresh and new... almost..."Jade trailed off. "Exciting."I finished for them.
"Hmm.. I guess."They fixed their hair, and then adjusted their brown-leathered aviator jacket. "Are your wounds okay?"They finally asked.
"I'm fine."I smiled. "You should sleep, I'll watch out for you."Jade told me, I gave them one last smile, curled up into a ball, and tried to sleep.
I slept finally. And the dreams came with it.
Ezra lie in a cage, shivering. He was badly beaten, and was hung over Hell-Fire. His yellow aura with little jewels flickered, like he was grasping onto life.
Ezra!I tried to call out, but he could't hear me.
"Eat."A guard walked over to his cage down the path, he shoved a plate of... some sort of goo in his cell. Ezra ran at the cage bars, his nose seemed broken, he ran with a limb. "Woah there buddy. Not like you have any jewels to summon."The guard chuckled. "El-Ellisse..."He muttered, "Www-Wher-wh..."
"Spit it out. Hurry now."The guard looked eerily like the angel we had accidentally let into Camp awhile back. Adan. Her heels tapped against the floor, she checked her watch. "Awww... can't speak up? Too bad."The angel let out a loud laugh that shook the chambers.
"No.."Ezra stumbled.The dream shifted.
I was 9 again, Atticus, Jade, and were fighting monsters like normal. "BAM!"Atticus laughed, smashing an Imp's head in. I smiled, cutting one in half. Jade used their sword and stabbed one in the heart. We were a perfect trio. Working like the gears in a clock. Turning and turning. We finally reached camp, beat up and bloody. The head counselor then was a young man named Derik.
He had chocolate-coloured skin and short, black locs. He greeted us with a smile, he walked on two leg-braces, which I found cool. "Hello! Come in Demi-demons, now. I don't want the Imps to get in!"He smiled bigger. We limped in and the giant gates closed behind us,
"This is camp Lucifer."Derik pointed over to the nude statue of Jade's father. I almost giggled. "Go ahead, laugh. It's fine. I'm pretty proud of camp, actually. Though... it's more of a safe-place for us Demons."He referred to the giant cabin-like house a bit away, and then the archery area.. a couple sheds... and an outdoor dining hall. FOOD!
"I'm hungry. SO hungry!"Atticus grinned.
"Wait a moment, young warrior. We have to introduce you."Derik grinned.
We entered the giant cabin, there was about... 100 campers, maybe more? They all looked like nice people, all with overwhelmingly bright auras. I knew... this was home. I could be here forever. In this moment. Jade's mouth opened, "WAKE UP!"
I woke up. Jade looked over me.
"EZRA! I HEARD YOU SAY HIS NAME IN YOUR SLEEP!"Erik shook me. I got up, rubbing my eyes. "What time...?"I looked up, the sky was black.
I explained my dream. Erik seemed to be thrilled. "He's.. alive. Just... barely... but he's ALIVE!"He grinned, looking over at Valentina. She looked at me with a face that was no-doubt saying "Please... don't crush his hope. He's been through a lot."
"Yeah."I smiled, we got up, readied ourselves, and wen't back into the world.
