No one POV
Warm sunlight.
Tender wind blew and moved the tree leaves.
Blu sky dotted with milky clouds.
His golden hair shiny and soft like silk.
His arms secure and strong around him.
A soft melody.
"Sonny? Are you there?" A distance voice called.
Sonny woke up.
"Did you sleep at all tonight?" Tina asked worriedly.
"Only a couple hours"
Sonny rubbed his eyes.
"You have to sleep more, I'm worried about you"
Sonny said nothing just went back to work.
He kept having that dream, over and over again but it didn't feel like a nightmare, it felt more like a safe space.
Sonny really had the feeling to be there, in that field, in his arms.
He didn't know why he kept dreaming of whoever that guy was but it felt nice.
"You look distracted lately and it's not cause of the lack of sleeping" Tina said while making a latte.
"I'm just tired. Don't really have much time to stop and take a breath- thank you" Sonny explained while handing back the change to a customer.
"You know you can tell me everything..."
"Yes, I know"
Tina said that at least a thousand times in 13 years of friendship but Sonny didn't tell her everything not cause he didn't trust her or something, but cause he didn't know how to explain it.
"Well, remember that tonight we have dinner at mine. Maya is trying a new recipe" Tina reminded him before going in the back.

That day at work was extremely slow but Sonny like it whenever it was just him and Tina in the coffee shop, even during rush hour.
"Excuse me, this coffee is not what I ordered" a lady complained.
"I'm sorry ma'am if you have your receipt we can remake it for you"
"I don't have it"
"I need the receipt to remake it"
Sonny didn't want to be an asshole but those people get on his nerves.
"I said I don't have it"
"Then I'm sorry but I can't remake it, ma'am"
Sonny moved to the next customer, who was a sweet old lady.
"I want your manager"
Sonny called Tina, who immediately rolled her eyes as soon as she saw the lady.
"Is this a joke?"
"No ma'am, I'm the manager. How can I help?"
The lady explained the problem again but this time more rudely.
Tina didn't budge in and in the end, the lady left.
"Thank god she left. She was being a pain in the ass" the old lady in line commented and both Sonny and Tina laughed.

"We are home"
Tina opened the door and kissed Maya as soon as she stepped inside.
"How was work?"
"Tiring but fine"
Tina laid on the sofa, completely exhausted.
"Well, dinner is ready"
Sonny lived alone so he enjoyed evenings like this, with his chosen family.
Weirdly he never felt like the third wheel with them even though Maya turned Tina into a puppy that always craves attention.
But he did feel lonely sometimes and probably it was the reason why he kept dreaming about that boy in that field of lilacs.

"I keep dreaming about one thing, it's actually a moment" Sonny said out of nowhere while they were eating.
"There's a huge field of lilacs and a boy. All I can feel is his hold on me, tight and safe"
"Does he say something? A name?" Maya asked.
"No...it feels like we have been knowing each other for centuries cause it really feels like home but I've never seen him in my life"
"That's both creepy and cute" Tina commented.
"Maybe it's like a vision...maybe that's what your future looks like"
Maya has always been the hopeless romantic of the group.
"I mean it really feels like I've fallen in love with him but he's not real"
"You can't know..."
Maya smiled at him, a smile that said 'don't worry about it now'.

The dream kept popping into Sonny's mind and one night the static scene changed.
The boy stayed to play with Sonny's curls and he couldn't help but melt at the touch.
"You like it?"
"You can talk?"
Sonny turned around and looked at his face.
The guy was gorgeous, probably the best looking man ever and Sonny touched his face hesitantly to see if he was real or not.
"Do you like lilacs? We can always change it..." the boy asked looking at the field.
The curly boy never replied and he wondered what happened that changed the dream.
"Maybe it's a sign" Tina speculated while refilling the cups.
"I don't know, it's driving me crazy and it's just a dream"
"Stop thinking about your Romeo and remember that tonight we go out for drinks"

They went to their usual bar, not one of those with dimmed lights and dark rooms filled with loud music.
It was more like a chill place.
"Going to the bathroom"
"Remember that there isn't a lock"
"Just have to wash my hands"
Sonny was fixing his hair when someone walked in.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I thought it was empty" the guy apologized.
But Sonny was starstruck.
It was him, the guy with golden hair that have been haunting his mind.
"I- no no, you're fine. I was about to leave actually"
"Emmm...can I ask you to hold the door? There's no lock"
Sonny wasn't able to function so he just nodded.
It was weird, extremely weird cause a stranger was peeing while he was holding the door.
It wasn't technically a stranger, Sonny had to do something.
So right before stepping out, he presented himself.
"I'm Harper"
The guy flashed a smile.
"Do you wanna smoke a cigarette with me?" He asked and Sonny accepted.

"So you're here with friends or alone?"
"Friends but they date each other so..."
Sonny let out a puff of smoke.
"Interesting...you third wheel a lot?"
"Nah, they are chill. What about you?"
"Alone...my friends were here then had to go"
Harper played with the lighter.
"Then thank god you met me, no?"
It was funnier in Sonny's head.
"Yeah...maybe we can drink something together...and keep each other company?"
So the boys ended up tipsy laughing at something they didn't even remember but the magic of the moment ended when Tina said they had to go home.
"Take my number...next week there's a party, come with me" Harper slurred and Sonny nodded as a reply.
The boy smiled at the series of numbers.

"Is it too much? Too gay? I should do something more sober..."
Sonny tried at least a thousand outfits and Tina was tired, she just wanted cuddles and movies with Maya.
"Put on the black shiny crop top"
"Are you sure?"
"Do you trust me? Then let me do it"
Tina picked out the crop top, a pair of pastel purple pants that were high-waisted and a choker with rainbow sparkly stones.
"Put on a bold lipstick and you're done"
Sonny wasn't sure but he trusted Tina.

"You're here!"
Harper went to hug him, a bottle of alcohol in his hand.
Sonny expected Harper to ignore him cause he was there with his friends but in reality, he was attacked to the boy, always bringing him drinks and dragging him to smoke together.
"You look amazing by the way" Harper commented while they were dancing.
"Isn't it too much?"
They drank a lot but somehow they weren't drunk yet.
"Don't listen to yourself, you look fucking hot"
It could have been the packed room or the song or the mood but they were attached, grinding on one another.
"If I kiss you...is it ok?" Harper whispered in Sonny's ear causing shivers.
The boy tilted his head and Harper started to kiss it.
He started slow but it became more heated pretty quickly.
Sonny grabbed his face and looked at Harper's swollen lips.
"Do you really want to ruin that gorgeous lipstick?"
"If you're the one ruining it then it's ok"
It was hot, extremely hot and for Sonny, it felt like the missing piece was finally found.
He prayed for this, for someone to kiss him hard at a party or just to care about him.
"Hey hey...slow down..."
Harper was panting heavily, lipstick smeared around his mouth.
Sonny looked at him, there in the middle of the room surrounded by people and he saw the Harper in his dreams, in that field of lilacs hugging him.
"You ok?"
"Yeah..." Sonny simply replied.

"Stop...it tickles" Sonny said with his eyes half-open.
Harper didn't stop.
"I'm tired and my head..."
Sonny turned over, he kinda felt like shit.
He wasn't used to nights like that.
Harper said nothing and the boy thought he got mad or something but a second later, he got up and returned with a glass of water and an aspirin.
"Do you feel anything apart from the headache?"
Harper checked if he had a fever but nothing.
"No...just tired and want cuddles"
Sonny buried himself in the covers and Harper couldn't say no.

They laid in bed for hours, not saying much but it felt nice...safe.
Small kisses were shared and for a moment they thought they were dreaming, it was so perfect that it didn't feel real.
"You know...I kept having this recurring dream before we met" Sonny started.
"It felt like a vision, a prediction almost...there was a field of lilacs and the whole time, no one said a word but it was ok like that. We just laid there, your arms around me...with the lilacs"
"You dreamt about me?"
"Before we even met"
Sonny looked at him, at his gorgeous eyes and knew that his unconscious was way ahead than his conscious.
