"I heard that Mr. Robertson is seeing someone"
"Again? Didn't he break up a couple of weeks ago?"
"She apparently was a gold digger...that's what I heard"
The other assistant sighed loudly.
"Rich people and their drama"
"Oh, remember that today is the first day of the new assistant"
And right as they were talking about him, Harper walked into the lobby.
"Harper, right?"
"Yes, that would be me"
He flashed a bright and white smile.

"Remember that Mr. Robertson likes his privacy so don't go into his office unless required. Always remember his coffee order and rule number one...mind your business"
Clara, the assistant, guided him around the office.
"There he is...good morning Mr. Robertson"
She slightly bowed as he walked by.
Usually, he says a quick 'hi' without stopping but this time, he stopped.
"Who is he?"
"I'm Harper...Harper dark, the new assistant"
Sonny eyed him up and down.
"Mm...and what made you apply for this place?"
"I-its for my curriculum and to pay for my last year of college"
Harper was nervous cause the man was kinda intimidating.
"Ok...well, I'll be in my office. You know the drill, Clara"
And with that, he disappeared into his office.

For the majority of the day, Harper did photocopies, replied to stupid calls and made origami.
"Is it always like this?"
"I know it looks boring but...Mr. Robertson has a pretty active love life so sometimes it's funny to gossip about it"
It was unprofessional but Harper honestly didn't care one bit, he just didn't want to be bored.
Also, they were doing a late shift so there was barely anyone in the office.
"Nice...I'm gonna study now or else I'll never finish college"
Harper took out his books and started to work.
"Clara, send me via mail tomorrow schedule. I'm gonna log off now"
Mr. Robertson appeared and saw Harper studying.
"I-I'm sorry...I didn't-"
"What are you studying for?"
The man asked with a calm tone.
"Law..."
Harper replied quietly.
"A soon-to-be lawyer...well I'll need one soon so..."
Mr. Robertson smirked then left without adding a word.

In the following days, the boss acted weird, not even Clara knew what was going on with him and things got even weirder.
"I'm here to see Ryan..."
A girl with a tight dress, way too many necklaces and high heels that look like they were about to break cause of how thin they were walked in.
"He'll receive you in a second. Harper go and warn him, also ask if he needs something"
Harper nodded and walked all through the office.
"Mr. Robertson...sorry to interrupt"
The boy opened the door slowly after knocking.
"There's a lady here for you, she got an appointment. Also, do you need anything? Maybe a coffee?"
"No. Tell her to leave, I'm busy"
Sonny said with a deep voice not even looking up from his iPad.
Harper just stood there in silence.
"And yeah, you can do something for me...I have to show you a thing"
Sonny checked his million-dollar watch.
Harper just followed the orders, he sent away the lady who walked out mad and followed Mr. Robertson through the office, not knowing where they were headed to.

"May I ask where are we going?"
"You'll see"
Sonny stopped in front of a conference room and opened the big door.
A group of men and women with serious suits turned around and went quiet in 2 seconds.
"Gentlemen and ladies, this is Harper...a soon to be lawyer so he's gonna be with us today"
Sonny gestured for the boy to sit next to him.
"Those are my lawyers, maybe you'll learn something"
Sonny whispered not in a mean way, he was really trying to help the boy.
Harper was extremely confused but couldn't refuse the opportunity.

Once the meeting was done, Harper had to ask.
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why bailing on a date for this...for me?"
"Just want to form my lawyers in the best way and who told you it was a date?"
Harper blushed ashamed, holding his notepad close to his chest.
"Well, thank you..."
"You're welcome and ask Clara for the schedule of the rest of the meetings"
