"I took the admission test and I realized that I'll never enter a university"
"Don't say that...admission tests are a matter of lucky"
"For real though...there are some questions that were impossible"
"I know...Brook, are you with us?"
Brook looked up at Sonny and Rye.
"I- yeah..."
The boy was lost in his thoughts.
All his friends were settled for the future, kinda, and he was just lost.
All of his choices were the most complicated and he constantly felt like he wasn't enough, no matter how hard he tried.
"So you're still focused on your first choice?"
Rye asked him.
"Emmm yeah. I have a plan B though...if I fail, I'll probably study law or international politics, law and economy"
"It sounds hard"
Sonny commented.
"Economy...are you aware that there's math?"
Brook was aware of it but Rye's question made him feel stupid.
"Yeah...I'm aware- I'm sorry guys but I have to go"
Why was he born stupid?
Couldn't he be good at something like math?
He felt like everything was falling apart since the beginning of their last year of high school and everyone expected something from him.
Brook was under pressure.

"Hi Brook..."
The boy wiped his eyes immediately.
"Hi..."
His voice cracked.
"Are you ok? Aren't you supposed to be in class?
Jack asked.
"Yeah...emmm, I have a free period"
"Are you sure that you're fine cause you don't look fine"
Jack was worried since the boy was standing alone in an empty hallway.
"I-"
Brook didn't even know what to say.
"Ok, we are going out"
Jack grabbed his wrist.
"When?"
"Now. Don't you have a free period?"

They left school to grab a coffee.
Brook just stared at his cappuccino, looking at the little bubbles in the foam.
"I know there's something wrong but if you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to"
Jack smiled softly at the boy.
"It's about university..."
"...Sonny and Rye were talking about it and when I told them about my plan, Rye asked me if I was sure of it..."
Jack arched a brow.
"Ok...and that bothered you because...?"
"He thinks I can't do it cause there's math in one of my choices"
Brook hated feeling like a failure but it was worse when others made him feel that way.
"Hey...you can do it"
Jack looked at him and grabbed his hand.
"I'm trying to not let anyone down but it's hard..."
"I believe in you but it doesn't matter cause you have to believe in yourself first"
Brook couldn't process how Jack was always so positive, he was a 'glass half full' type of guy while Brook was the opposite, maybe even a 'sorry the glass is broken' type of guy.
"If that's what you want then go for it and fuck who doesn't believe in you, even if it's Rye"
Brook smiled softly and looked at Jack, squeezing his hand to silently thank him.
"I wish I was good at math"
Brook played with a packet of sugar.
"You can always learn...I can teach you"
Jack truly wanted Brook to achieve his goals.
"I-I don't think it'll work..."
"Just trust me"
Jack intertwined his fingers with Brook's.

So the blonde boy started to study math with Jack and not only it was helping but between them something was growing, a feeling that Brook couldn't even dream about.
Jack truly cared about Brook, he would do anything for him and the boy thanked the universe for having someone that believed in him.

One day Brook was particularly happy, in fact, after class he went to find Jack.
When he saw him talking with Rye, he ran to hug him.
"Hey..."
Jack laughed stumbling backwards.
"Thank you...thank you"
Brook said into his neck.
"For what?"
Jack cupped his face, trying to figure out the source of that sudden happiness.
The boy showed his math test and Jack hugged him tightly.
Rye just stood there confused.
"I knew you were gonna make it!"
Jack was so proud of him.
"Wow, I never thought this day would come"
Rye looked at the math test.
Jack glared at his friend.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Nothing. Just that I'm impressed"
"You thought Brook couldn't do it?"
Jack was about to throw hands with Rye.
"I mean, he never understood math"
The guy was about to attack him when Brook stopped them.
"It's ok Jack, let it go"
At that, the raven boy left and Brook followed behind.

"Jack, stop. He didn't mean it like that"
The blonde boy grabbed his wrist.
"He's an asshole. He should have been on cloud 9 for you but he chose to be an asshole"
Brook stayed quiet then grabbed Jack's hand and looked up at him.
"You being happy and proud is enough for me"
Jack was still furious so he didn't say anything.
"I did it cause of you so I don't care what Rye thinks, just what you think"
"And what do you think I think?"
Jack stepped closer.
Brook gulped, struggling to find the words.
"I- that you're proud of me?"
"Yes and...?"
Another step closer.
"That you believe in me...?"
"What else?"
Another step.
Jack was right in front of him and he was making Brook nervous.
The raven boy noticed that and cupped his face caressing it softly.
"No answers left?"
Brook gulped.
"I-"
Jack didn't even let him start the sentence that he kissed him.
"I- you need to stop doing this. I can't function anymore"
Brook said embarrassed, hiding into Jack's chest.
And Jack found it extremely cute.

"I can't do it. I will fail"
Brook was pacing back and forth and couldn't stop.
"Calm down...you know how to make your way through every math problem, we practiced"
"I feel like I'm about to throw up or pass out or die...I'm gonna have a heart attack"
Brook looked at Jack with panic painted in his eyes.
"Baby, look at me"
Jack grabbed his shoulders and looked right into his scared eyes.
"You're not gonna die. I know that you can do it"
And Jack's words were sincere.
"Stop worrying"
Brook looked away but Jack grabbed his chin and pecked his lips softly.
"What if I fail?"
"You'll try again"
A voice behind Brook said, Rye.
"What are you doing here?"
"Supporting you...I've been an asshole but I'm here now"
Rye was really sorry, he never doubted Brook's abilities.
The blonde boy turned to Jack cause he knew that he had something to do with it.
"Don't look at me like that and go take your test"
Brook smiled cause Jack made him realize that he wasn't stupid and failure wasn't as bad as it sounded.

As promised the second story of tonight.
This one is kinda inspired from something that truly happened to me and I thought it was a cute concept so I tried to write something about it.
I know I need to write more stories about other couples and I promise I'll try. 🦕
