𝚂𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚕 𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚎𝚗 ~Marvey~

No one POV
Harvey always hated school canteens, since he was a child.
They are loud, dirty and always give him a headache.
That's why he's always with headphones on.
People think he's a freak and maybe he is but Harvey didn't give a shit honestly.

"Excuse me...can I sit here?"
Harvey looked up, stared at the raven boy then went back to his meal without saying a word.
The boy sat down anyway.
"I'm Mikey"
He presented himself without getting a reply.
Mikey was kinda the opposite, friendly, open and really talkative.
So Harvey's silence only made him more curious to get to know the boy.
"You don't talk much eh? It's ok"

"Harv, always with your headphones on"
Three boys and a girl sat down at the table.
Mikey looked at them.
"I'm Cooper, this guy is Cam and the disgusting couple are Mike and Marina"
"Mikey..."
But no longer after they sat down, Harvey gathered his stuff quickly and left the canteen, as if he was rushing to go somewhere.
"Do you guys know where is he rushing to? He looked upset"
Mikey asked the group.
"Who?"
Cooper looked confused but Mikey was even more confused.

The boy just got to the school and something was already going on, he had to find out what.
He noticed that Harvey always avoided the group but the three boys never paid attention to him, as if he was a ghost.
The only one from the group that happens to notice his presence is Marina, Mike's girlfriend.
She occasionally says 'hi' to him, she seems a kind person so Mikey had to ask her.
It was none of his business but he was curious, he couldn't help it.

"Hey, Marina right?"
"Yeah..."
She flashed a smile, no secret why Mike was with her.
"Ok, it might sound a bit weird but I have a question for you"
"Sure but do you mind if we walk to the chemistry lab? I have to meet Mike there"
So while they were walking, Mikey thought about how to ask it but in the end, he chose to just go for it.
"What happened between Harvey and the other boys?"
Marina stopped in her track and held her books close to her chest.
"Why do you ask?"
"I just want to know"
She sighed, then started to talk.
"They fell apart. The four of them were actually friends since the first year but then something happened. The others claim that nothing changed but Harvey..."
She was a bit hesitant to continue.
"...he thinks it's because he's gay but none of them is homophobic. That's all I know"
She sounded sincere.
Now Mikey needed to know Harvey's version.

"Work in pairs on the exercise"
It was Mikey's moment.
"I hope you don't mind if I-"
"Here, I already did all of them"
Mikey was confused.
"I thought we had to work together..."
"I already did them"
And Harvey went back to doodle on his notebook.
It was harder than Mikey thought but he didn't give up.

So after English class, he ran after Harvey who walked surprisingly fast.
"Hey"
The boy grabbed his arm to stop him and Harvey pulled away as if lava just touched him.
"Sorry...I- can you tutor me? I know you tutor in English"
"Not anymore"
Harvey coldly replied.
"I'm gonna pay you double the amount"
At that, the boy stopped and sighed then turned around.
"Are you that desperate?"
"I got the lowest grade on the last test"
Harvey's eyes widened then mumbled a small 'ok', gave Mikey a piece of paper and left.
Mikey opened the paper and smiled.
'School library. 17:00. Don't be late'

"You're late"
"Only by 2 minutes"
Mikey defended.
Harvey said nothing just placed on the table a notebook.
"This are all my notes printed, they can help you study"
Mikey nodded, so maybe deep down Harvey's heart wasn't that cold.

The boy went to tutoring class once a week for a while and Harvey seemed to open up slowly, he even laughed at some of Mikey's jokes.

"Can I ask you a question?"
Harvey simply nodded.
"Are Cam, Cooper and Mike your friends?"
At the question Harvey froze, then he gathered his things and got up but Mikey grabbed his arm.
"I don't want to talk about it"
"Ok, I won't pressure you but I want to understand since their behavior confuses me, like at the canteen"
Mikey felt bad for the boy cause he really looks like a good person and seeing him being treated so badly kinda hurts.
"They confuse me too. I don't have an answer for you"
"I just want to know your version"
Harvey sighed and sat back down, stared at his water bottle then spoke.
"Simply put...things fell apart after my coming out. I don't think they are homophobic but-"
He looked away to avoid the tears.
"Let's just say that I needed support but they started to cut me out..."
Mikey really didn't know what to say cause a 'sorry' sounded too lame so he just rested his hand on top of Harvey's.
The boy looked at him with watery eyes.

"You're not eating anything?"
Mikey asked after sitting down next to Harv.
The boy pulled down his headphones, an improvement of their relationship, and shook his head no.
"Here, we can share mine. You have to eat"
Harvey weakly smiled at Mikey but it disappeared as soon as the others sat down.
"Oh, hi Mikey"
Cooper said placing down his tray.
Mikey said back a quick 'hi' then turned to Harvey.
"Can we revise for the English test now? I have some questions to ask you"
Harvey nodded.

"Try to remember those three keywords and you're gonna be fine"
Harvey highlighted them for Mikey, he was so adorable with his pastel highlights.
"Oh, you're tutoring Mikey?"
Cooper asked.
"Yeah"
Harvey's reply sounded so small and fragile.
"I have some questions too"
"I'm sorry but we need to go now, Harv promised he would help me with something so we have to go"
Mikey quickly said and got up grabbing Harvey's hand.
While they were walking away, still holding hands, Harvey said a quiet 'thank you'.

"Can we skip tutoring class? The test is over and we don't have a new one planned"
Mikey asked with puppy eyes and Harv couldn't say no.
They ended up at the park right in front of the school.
"How are you feeling?"
Mikey asked looking at the milky clouds.
Harvey turned his head to look at him.
"Why? You care about me?"
"I- you always help me so I wanted to know if you're ok...that's it"
Harvey smiled and looked back at the sky.
"No one ever asked me that..."
His tone was a bit sad.
"...At least not since the coming out..."
Mikey's heart ached at those words.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sad again"
"No, it's ok"
Mikey held his hand and turned to look at him.
"No one deserves that treatment. I'm sorry you have to go through this"
Mikey couldn't even imagine how lonely Harvey must have felt.
"It's ok..."
"No, it's not"
Mikey sat up.
"You're an amazing person and what they did to you was terrible and the worst part is that they don't even realize it. It makes me so mad..."
Harvey just stared at him in silence.
"I can see that it hurts you and it fucking sucks cause I can't do anything about it, I can't make it better"
"You already made it better"
Harvey cut him off and he was being sincere.
Mikey was the only one that cared to get close to him, no matter how many times he pushed the boy away.
But most importantly, he was the first one to stick by his side after the coming out.
Mikey caressed his cheek.
"I wish I could do more"
He smiled at Harvey, who smiled back fondly.

-a month later-
"You only want an iced tea?"
Harvey nodded.
"Ok, wait for me here"
Mikey kissed his forehead.
The boy checked his phone while he was waiting and for once he didn't feel uncomfortable in the school canteen.
He still hated it but it was more bearable now.
"This Saturday is gonna be wild"
Mike said loudly sitting down next to Marina.
"I need an alcohol list for the party though"
Cam added placing down his bag.
"Harv"
Cooper called.
"You coming?"
Harvey looked up from his phone and the itch of grabbing his headphones was almost winning but Mikey came to the rescue.
"I'm sorry but my boyfriend is too busy for that"
He handed his boy the iced tea.
All the boys were a bit shocked.
"Well-"
"Come on, let's eat lunch somewhere else"
Mikey cut off Cooper.
"I know you don't like the school canteen...it's a bit too loud"
So he grabbed Harvey's bag and his hand kissing it softly before leaving.

"Weren't you a bit too harsh?"
Harv laughed once they were out.
"No. The canteen is really a loud place, now I understand why you always wear headphones. Plus I don't want some people near my precious and adorable boyfriend"
Harvey blushed.
"Stop..."
"Then stop being so cute"
Mikey kissed his cheek before dragging him inside the cafe.

Kinda happy with this one so I really hope you guys like it.
Lately I feel like my stories ideas are too simple or bland so this one really makes me feel better with myself.
I was thinking of rewriting or re-edit some stories from the previous book so if you don't see new updates that's the reason why.
