Thalia glared at the back of Thranduil as he left again, it had been an entire week since she had been reunited with Bilbo and she had been helping him plan their escape whenever she got the chance to see him.
Thalia was slowly growing bored of Thranduil's attempts to get her to marry him, she had no interest in the elf and her heart belonged to Thorin.
"You know you can't deny him forever," Paloma said walking into the room, she had heard them shouting from doors away and had come to speak to her cousin in hopes of changing her mind.
Thalia gritted her teeth annoyed as she turned to glare at Paloma, she didn't know what had happened to twist her cousin's mind but she knew that Paloma held all the answers that she needed.
"I can try," Thalia said determined not to give him, she was sure that Thranduil would grow bored of her refusals and move on.
Thalia was only a demigod and she didn't know why the elf-king was so interested in marrying her, she had a feeling that Paloma knew the answer to that as well.
"You are so much like your mother," Paloma mused smiling at Thalia, she sat down on the bed and watched her cousin knowing that she had no idea just how much she looked like her mother.
Thalia frowned at Paloma's words, she knew that David had said that Kathryn wasn't her mother and it was something that had set her on edge until now.
"My real mother?" Thalia questioned watching her cousin, she didn't know what Paloma was going to tell her but she wanted the truth; she needed to know if what David had told her was true that she was some experiment.
Paloma nodded her head staring at Thalia, it was time that she told her cousin the truth about them since it was clear that Cornelia hadn't had the guts to do so; she had left Thalia completely unprepared.
"You are the daughter of Poseidon, God of the oceans, seas, destruction, earthquakes, horses, hurricanes and storms and Amphitrite, Goddess of fish, seals and springs," Paloma confirmed knowing that David had already told Thalia about that.
The two cousins were quiet as the news settled in the air, there was so many questions that Thalia had and she knew that Paloma was the only way that she was getting them.
Paloma watched as Thalia sat down knowing that this was a lot for her cousin to take in, this wasn't easy for any of them but it was their destiny and Thalia had her part to play.
"You know why we were created... as a balance because of a mistake that was made," Paloma said looking at Thalia, she was sure that the Gods would have told her about this by now.
Thalia already seemed to have met her father and Paloma knew that it would have been then that she had learnt the partial truth about who she really was.
"It was decided that the best way to ensure that we were strong enough to be that balance was for us to be born to the three main couples; Zeus and Hera, Poseidon and Amphitrite and Hades and Persephone," Paloma said thinking about her own parents, she was the first child that her parents had, had together for years because of her father's affairs.
Thalia nodded to show that she understood, she swallowed knowing that she had sort of accepted who she was especially since David had already told her pretty much the same.
"To ensure that the balance would work they made us demigods by messing with our DNA, with the hope it would work," Paloma said bitterly knowing that they could die following their destiny since they weren't immortal.
Thalia took a deep breath watching her cousin, she wasn't angry about the fact that they had done this only the fact that she had been lied to for her entire life.
Thalia had always felt like an outsider and now to learn that both of her parents were Gods everything started to make sense to her.
"Okay," Thalia said calmly this wasn't going to really change anything for her and she hoped that she would one day get to meet her real mother when the time was right.
Paloma gritted her teeth as she looked at Thalia, she knew that her cousin had time to process this and David shouldn't have been the one to tell her about who she really was.
"You should marry Thranduil... he would be able to look after you," Paloma said carefully knowing that now that Thalia knew the truth that she should take a chance with the elven-king.
Thalia frowned looking at Paloma, it was clear that something was effecting her and she wondered if the dark magic that she could sense in the forest was warping her cousin's mind in some way to make her think that Thranduil was great.
"I don't think so... I'm courting someone," Thalia said with a shake of her head, she watched Paloma knowing that she would never marry the elven-king; she didn't like him and she could feel something dark about him whenever he was around.
Paloma frowned knowing that as the daughter of water, she had to marry someone suitable for her and the only person that was suitable right now was Thranduil.
"You should be courting a king," Paloma said jumping to her feet and glared at Thalia, she was a demigod and a powerful one; she deserved the best just like Paloma had.
Thalia rolled her eyes knowing that she couldn't reveal that she was courting Thorin, it would only but the dwarves in danger and threaten their escape plan to continue on with their quest.

Bilbo took a deep breath as he crept around the palace, tonight was the night that they escaped Mirkwood and he knew that this could be their only chance.
Everything had to go right and he was sure that the elves would all be distracted by their celebration and would be too busy to notice that the dwarves and Thalia had disappeared.
Bilbo ducked between the shadows, even though his ring made him invisible he didn't want to risk it since the elves were not like the ones from Rivendell.
Carefully moving towards the room where Thalia was being held hostage, Bilbo listened for a moment as Paloma left the room in a huff; he used her exit to sneak into the room knowing that this was his chance to break Thalia out.
The doors closed behind him making Bilbo sigh in relief before he removed his ring, he had warned Thalia to make sure that she had everything so that they could leave.
Thalia looked at him as she swallowed knowing that this was it, this was their one chance to escape from Mirkwood; they wouldn't get another one if they were caught trying to escape.
"Are you ready?" Bilbo asked as Thalia hurried to quickly collect her bag and nodded her head, she knew that whatever happened next was going to define their escape.
There were two guards outside of her room and they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon; Bilbo smiled as he looked at Thalia as he pulled something out of his pocket.
Thalia raised an eyebrow at Bilbo as he showed her the powder that he would use to help them escape her room before going to get the others; he had been working hard to make sure that the powder would work.
"I hope you know what you're doing," Thalia murmured watching Bilbo move to slip the powder into the drinks that the guards had; they just hoped that it would work.
