If You're Fine, Then I'm Fine

Chapter Twelve

Narrator's pov

Carlos shakes Leanna's laying body. She groans and slowly opens her eyes.

"Have a good sleep?"

Her brows raise in confusion, "Oh- uh, I fell asleep?"

He smiles and sits next to her, "Yep. We set up the rest without you. You've been really tired lately, are you alright?"

"Yeah just got shit on my mind,"

Carlos rolls his eyes and groans in disgust, "Oh god is Simon being a dick to you again?"

"N- Yeah. Yeah he is," She mumbles.

He looks upset. His eyes look down to the grass, "I'm sorry. I can punch him again if you'd like me to," He looks back up at her as she sits up.

Leanna smiles, "I'm good for now. Thank you,"

Kai runs over towards the two, "Hey Carlos could you hel- Oh hey Leanna you're awake!"

She smiles at him and laughs, "Mhm. Oh, how long until the party?"

"Oh like a few minutes. We saw your mum before and she said she'd come back because we are done!"

Kai looks at Leanna. Her eyes are big and confused, "WHAT?! HOW LONG WAS I ASLEEP FOR?" She yells.

"Ages. At least an hour and a half. We let you sleep because you were tired. It's fine, honestly," Kai assures her.

She sits in disbelief. She can never sleep without a nice warm comfy bed or a nice warm comfy shoulder. She sits. Staring.

Carlos and Kai walk off and finish the last few things for the party. Leanna looks around. Pool, tables, chairs, food, decorations. She wished she could have helped but she knows that she was extremely tired. She sighs but gets up.

Cora and Akina are putting party hats on the boys. Their faces show their unenthusiastic mood. Their mouths lay flat and they seem to not be enjoying it. She walks to the group and puts a hat on herself. It's yellow and has little pink spots. The colourful hats rest on all the friends heads. Leanna giggles at the boys faces.

Randomly, a young child-like voice squabbles incoherent things to the group.

Leanna turns quickly and gasps, "DANTE!"

He runs into her arms, "Is this all for me?!" He yells with the most excited voice.

Leanna nods.

Dante wiggles out of the hug and jumps up and down with excitement. "Oh. My. Gosh! You and your friends are the best!"

He giggles and runs over to the pool. Then he runs to the tables. And the tents. 

"Where is everyone?" He questions.

"They aren't here yet," Leanna affirms, "I promise that all of your friends from school are coming. Promise with my whole heart,"

Dante smiles, "A whole heart promise can never be broken," 

He still looks slightly upset until another small child-like voice appears.

"JAMIE!" Dante yells running over to the boy.

"DANTE!" He replies. They hug and jump around for a bit.

"Pool time?" Dante asks.

Jamie nods his head then runs toward the pool, shorty after splashing into it. He squeals as Dante joins him. The group and parents smile and watch them in awe.

"I remember when you were that small amour," Leanna's mother states, "And you too Carlos. You guys were so cute together. You always said you wanted to get married when you were tiny,"
