Boss's, boss's boss

Taking her time to walk down the familiar halls Evie kept her head down and managed to avoid most of the people running about as she searched out Henry. Checking her phone for the time she figured he'd be getting ready to have his lunch soon so she was hopeful that he'd sit and talk with her. Peeking through the window of his lab she didn't see him and she couldn't go inside because her visitor's badge wouldn't gain her access. Softly groaning she thunked her forehead against the glass and stood there for a second when she heard her name being called. "Evie, what are you doing here?"

Whirling around at the sound of his surprised voice she gave him a small smile and a little wave. He looked good dressed in a pair of charcoal grey jeans and a slightly wrinkled blue button down under his lab coat. His tie that she knew he'd started the day with was gone letting her know he'd gotten into a good groove earlier. Grasping Bucky's dog tags from where they rested between her breasts she began to run them back and forth on the chain in her nervousness. Henry's ever observant eyes catch the restless tick making her stop. "I'm here for business, but I just wanted to see if you had some time to chat."

"Sure, we can talk in my lab unless you want to go somewhere to sit and eat." He said lifting his sandwich and can of Coke. Waving his offer off, she tells him that it was fine. "I'm pretty sure my dad and I are gonna grab a bite after we leave so I'll sit with you."

"Your dad? Tony is here?" He asks, looking around the half empty hall for the billionaire as he swipes his badge over the electronic keypad to unlock his door and lets her go ahead of him.

Walking through to the messy and cluttered room she tells him over her shoulder, "He's up talking with Dan. I don't know if I'm allowed to say why we're here, but if I get the all clear I will." Eyes widening he lets out a small huff of a breath.

"Stark Industries bought Camden. That was fast. I thought it was just a baseless rumor, but if he's here talking to the head of the company then it must be true." At her nod he purses his lips and sits down at his desk placing his lunch in the only cleared spot available. "So you said you wanted to talk?"

Clasping her hands in front of her waist she bobs her head trying to get to the point of her visit. "Right, yes. I wanted to apologize about Copenhagen and what happened on our last day there. I really didn't mean to upset you or hurt your feelings, I just.."

"You're in love with Barnes. I get it." He finishes her sentence with a blank expression that made her feel even worse for hurting his feelings. "Well I don't, not really. Because he kidnapped you and gave you to those people, but if you're happy then I guess there's nothing I can do." Frowning, she went to defend Bucky, but he held up a hand. "I'm sorry, that was completely uncalled for. I guess I'm still a little bitter about it, is all. I know he was brainwashed and was just as much a victim as you were. It's just going to take me some time to get over how I feel."

"I understand and I'll understand if you don't want to talk to me for a while or ever." Which would suck because he had always been such a good friend to her. Reaching out for her hand he waited for her to place it in his this time instead of just taking it. When she does he gives her a wide smile.

"Of course I don't want to stop talking to you, Evie. I love you, but I can learn to put those feelings aside and just be your friend. And as such I have to apologize. I'm so sorry I just took off like I did. If I hadn't, maybe you wouldn't have been kidnapped by that psychopath again." Taking her hand back to hug him hard about the neck she shook her head before leaning back a little to look into his warm brown eyes filled with remorse.

"Oh Henry no! Rumlow would have hurt you or worse and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if anything bad happened to you because of me. I was able to save myself and then my dad, Steve, Sam and Bucky were there to help take care of those guys. Except for Rumlow. He got away, but only after I managed to beat his ass and shot him twice." She tells him with more than a little bit of venom in her voice.
