It'd been almost four weeks since she came home. In that time Evie had quickly gained back everything she lost weight wise. Much to the amusement of her family she now ate more than Sten and Scott combined in order to keep up with her new metabolism. As for her mental health. Well that was still a work in progress. Almost immediately her dad had set her up with a family friend and colleague of his that specialized in trauma. So twice a week Evie sat down in her parent's study with Dr Olivia Kent to talk about everything or nothing depending on the day.

But today wasn't a therapy day. No. Today was her twenty-third birthday and as much as she was fine to treat it like any other day, Evie knew her family wanted to celebrate it with her now that she was home again. So she had given in and agreed to a small gathering for breakfast. Her grandparents, Scott and even Henry had come to celebrate her special day with her.

The moment Henry had heard she was back he had shown up on her father's doorstep with flowers in hand. They had a tearful reunion and spent the better part of a day catching up. Unwilling to talk about what she'd gone through, Evie only told him the basics of what happened since she wasn't ready to delve into all of that so soon. Henry was understanding, but made it clear he was there to help in any way she'd let him. It was nice that he made an effort to fit back in her life though he had plenty of time to move on. For now he told her that all he wanted was for her to get well and to be her friend. So that's what they were doing, being friends.

Laughing at one of the many funny stories they were all sharing about when she was little they heard the doorbell. Needing a breather, Evie stood up telling them she had it. "I'll get the door. Seriously, you guys sit. It'll give Sten time to steal another slice of the lagkage." He shot her an indignant look, but he knew he'd been caught when she mimed wiping the corner of her mouth.

Another, louder knock sounded, making her hurry down the hall to the front door. She called out, "I'm coming. Just a second!"

Unlocking the door she pulled it open with a wide smile on her face for whoever it was that came calling. It was instantly wiped away by who was standing on her stoop with a small gift bag in his hand. Any and all happy feelings vanished at the sight of Tony Stark. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to know if we could talk? And I found out it was your birthday so I brought you a gift." He held the bag out for her to take. Crossing her arms under her breasts she stared at the bag like it is as full of excrement and then looked back at him not saying anything. "Please, just a few minutes. There's something important I need to talk to you about."

Her eyes narrowed on him. "Unless it's something new about what happened to me, Steve already explained everything. I will say I appreciated you keeping the press from hounding me, but other than that, I don't have anything to say to you."

She went to close the door when he hastily said, "I'm your dad!"

Pausing, Evie stood there shocked that he actually admitted to what he'd spent twenty-three years hiding and denying.

"Did you know? Did you know you were my kid?" Tony asks her with hurt written across his face. Where did he get off playing the victim?

She wasn't about to be trapped into admitting that she knew so he could sue her for breach of contract. He'd done enough to her and her mother. "I don't know what you're talking about. I already have a dad. Who is inside with the rest of my family. Now if you'll excuse me.."

Stepping closer Tony earnestly searched her eyes for the truth. "I can see that you know. I just want the chance to get to know you. To get the chance to be your dad."

Scoffing, she gave him a scathing look. "Sorry, the position has been filled. I already have a father. Nice man. Didn't run around screwing naive college girls and knock them up leaving them to handle it on their own."
