Luke's POV:
"It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again"
"Can you shut that fucking off please" I groan laying my head on the table. I've been sitting in Michael's kitchen racking my brain over the day I've had that I think my head is gonna explode.
I wish it would, it'd probably be better than the way my heart is feeling right now.
"That's good Luke let it out man" Michael says through a piece of wedding cake stuffed in his mouth.
I hear a slap and "what?" but choose to ignore it.
"He's right though, especially after what that bitch did to you"
This time I look up, glaring at Calum and he raises his hands up in surrender as I lean back in my seat.
"I just wish I knew where she was" standing up I snatched the bride off the wedding cake and walk outside the house.
Ashton's POV:
"He doesn't deserve this, and that cheap excuse for a note? Fuck that" Calum speaks out harshly.
Michael nods as he keeps shoveling wedding cake in his mouth.
"Dude stop that's gross" I push his fork away from his mouth.
"Listen, that wedding cake is a reminder of his shitty day, me clearing the evidence is helping. Not my fault it tastes good too".
I laugh at his words but truthfully, I think he's using it as a distraction from saying the wrong thing, still I can't blame him. What do you say to your best friend who just got abandoned on his wedding day like it was nothing?
I throw a tennis ball towards the living room as Southy and moose run off following it,
"It sucks too, he's been wanting to get married since like the first grade? He's always wanted a family".
Michael finally stops eating and pushes his plate away from him across the table, "That's a year before his mom and dad died".
Crystal sighs putting down her cup of tea and leans against Michael's shoulder, "Ya know I never liked Linda? She always pretends as though she is sweet but really she just thinks that she is better than everyone else. The only reason I put up with her was for Luke's sake, I mean he's like a brother to me now. Remember when she cheated on him? He forgave and forgot, still she does this to him? I hope she never comes back".
We all nod in agreement, we all put up with Linda for Luke's sake. When Linda cheated on him a year ago, Luke was upset but Linda convinced him it was his fault. Practically gaslighted him and swore it would never happen again. It didn't, that we all know of. We thought Luke needed time and would come to his senses, but a year later after their newfound fake honeymoon stage, Luke called and said he had proposed to her. She said yes, and there was nothing else we could do but sit and watch in fear that Luke might be making the biggest mistake of his life.
Calum speaks up, "Hey check out the cake, only a little groom on top"
"It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to, start again"
Luke's POV:
Sitting on the porch steps I sigh and take in the evening. The sun is almost set, the world around me close to darkness and overcasting gray clouds despite it being summer. The evening was drenched in my confusion and shame.
I just don't understand how she could not show up. She said yes didn't she, why would you say yes if she wasn't going to marry me? I keep looking at every moment we had together, still I can't find a reason. We had an apartment with everything we wanted, I made sure she was never alone. Even after a fight and she locked me out, I stood behind her door. What were we missing out on? Was my love just not enough? Was I not enough?
